Hey all,
I'm having a real hard time fitting my just-acquired Myrmidon. I've ~1.3 mill SP with a strong focus on medium rails and will be using the ship to run missions essentially.
What can I fit in my ship to PVE succesfully (Lvl3)?

When I ran lvl 3's with a myrm this was my setup.
[Myrmidon, forum] Armor Thermic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Armor Kinetic Hardener I Damage Control I Medium Inefficient Armor Repair Unit Medium Inefficient Armor Repair Unit
Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I
Drone Link Augmentor I 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge M 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge M 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge M 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge M 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Antimatter Charge M
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Hammerhead I x5
Swap the hardeners out according to the mission. T2 cap recharger's help a TON as it allows you to perma run both reps. Without them you have to run 1 and pulse the other. t2 drones also help immensely. This setup served me well.

At 1.3m sp you should have more patience. Anyway, i always said it and recommand it for Myrm, use Projectile Weapons.

I agree that there is no real reason to use hybrids on this ship other then chances are he probably already has skill in them.

Lol, just tried doing the Blockade mission and didn't last longer than 2 mins, what with the stupid web stasis tower crippling my speed. Came very close to losing my ship. Anyway, here's my present ship setup:
6x200mm med rails w/Lead charges (optimal distance: 22km)
3xCap rechargers II 1xAB I
Medium Repper I 2xNano Adaptive 1xRCU I 1xDamage Control I 1x'Skadi' something targetting component (can't remember name)
Drones: 5xHammerhead I (plus 10 in bay)
As it stands the 200mm guns are sucking my powergrid dry which is making one medium slot totally unusable.
As for projectiles, which would you advise me? I can't yet use medium proj guns but I suppose I could train up.

For missions use 650 T2 artillery. Works like a charm. I used to do a few L4 missions with it.

With 1.3 mil SP, no way in hell is he going to have the time or skill to train and use T2 Artillery effectively.
I've been running level 3 missions in my Myrm for a good while now, over the course of 6-8.5m SP, and I used the following setup:
Thermic Hardner (II if desired) Kinetic Hardner (II if desired) EANM II EANM II Medium repper II Medium repper II
AB Cap recharger II x4
4x 250 rails 1x 150 rail (II) 1x Drone link augmentor
Worked like a charm. To be honest, you shouldn't be in such a rush to be in a Myrm, unless you have the time and ISK to loose it.

Trouble is the 6 200mm rail guns fitted in my ship are already using up a lot of power (180x6=1080MW) and so would the 650 artillery guns (6x200=1200MW) which would further affect the modules I'd be able to fit.
What can I do about it?

I'm just sooo tired of running the same Lvl 2 missions and there's not much else I can do with my current skills.
Will try out your setup.

I just built my first Myrmidon for Lvl 3s, and I'm polishing a few loose ends (skills) to fit it properly. I wanted something like this:
Highs: 4 x 200mm named T1 railguns with Iron or Tungsten. 1 x Drone link augmentor 1 x Small remote repper
Meds:
1 x Omnidirectional tracking link 4 x Cap recharger II
Lows:
3 x Active armor hardeners II 1 x EANM II 1 x Medium armor repairer II 1 x 1600 rolled Tungsten plates
Drones: Waves of 4 x Hammerhead II + 1 x Hobgoblin II Rigs: no rigs
Questions:
1)I can probably drop a cap recharger for an afterburner, or a Drone navigation computer. Suggestions?
2)I've read shield tanking is very effective. However, I am AFKing most lvl 2 missions in an armor tanked Vexor, and I like it a lot. Does the armor tanked Myrm keep the awesomeness trend of the Vexor?
3)Should I drop the 1600 plates for another repper? IIRC, this setup and my lowly skills give me (on EFT) around 48.000 effective HP.
Thanks! (not worth opening another Myrm thread)

* Use this site to figure out the damage that your NPC ships are dealing: http://eveinfo.com/npcships/ * Replace your Adaptive plates with active hardeners of the required type. * Instead of fitting 6x200mm, fit 4x250mm and shoot at Optimal+0.5*Falloff (80%+ chance to hit) with better ammo(+50% damage). * You should have enough PG to drop that RCU, and replace it with another tanking mod or a Mag Field Stabilizer (+20% Damage). * Toss a tractor+salvager in the highs to speed up looting and increase your cash flow. * Get rid of your targetting doohicky. Fit a CPR or another repper in it's place.

Great tips there Menellaix. You make a lot of sense there.
Can I ask though what guns are ideal for this ship? Artillery or something else? BTW, I should be able to start fitting artillery guns in about an hour or so.

Whichever gun type you have the best gunnery skills to back up - use that type. Cross-training means that you will be bad at using two types of guns.

If you dont want to be bothered with ammo, you could always use lasers and have two ammoless weapon systems on your ship.

i'm still, what i consider, a n00b (2.6mil sp) here but i use a myrmidon on all lvl3 missions with no problems at all. a lot of you will probably scoff at my setup but it works well for me:
highs: 3 250mm proto - AM charges 2 150mm proto - iridium charges salvager 1
mids: 4 cap charger II's 10mn AB
lows:
damage control II 3 power gens 2 MAR II's
rigs: 1 nano pump 2 trimark
drones: 15 hammerhead 1's
Que the laughter!!!! works real well for me, perma run the damage control and 1 armour rep, 2nd rep is used with only the serpentis blockade lvl3 mission. never had the need to use hardners with 14105 armour hp! the only downside is that its a bit sluggish in the speed department. ive even tried lvl4's with this setup, completing this mission http://eve-survival.org/missions/scoreds4.html. havent tried any others after that. waiting to get a BS before i attempt any more lvl4's!

Couple things about this one...
(btw... i'm sorry, but i don't find completeing that mission all that impressive... i usually passive shield tank it in an active tanking raven...)
First - if you're going to have a bloody salvager, fit a bloody tractor beam. You don't have anything on there that bonuses the guns, so the drones are going to be doing most of your damage.
Second - that is alot of armor on that myrm - which is a great idea in PvP. PvE it is not. Why is it not? It reduces the efficiency of your MAR's. Lets compare your setup to a standard resisted setup.
your resists (serp mission) 43 thermal 43 kinetic Armor amount - 14105 Effective HP - 24745.6 armor repaired per cycle per MAR 2 - 368hp (12 sec. base, assuming max skills thats every 9.6 sec.) repair per sec - 76.6 hp/s effective hp repaired - 134 hp/s
My resists (2 MAR, 2 t2 thermal hardeners, 2 t2 kinetic hardeners, 3 aux. nano pumps - i consider this last fair cause you rigged yours) 83 thermal 83 kinetic armor amount - 5860hp effective hp - 34470 armor repaired per cycle - 445hp (9.6 sec) repair per sec - 92.7 hp/s effective HP repaired - 545 hp/s
As you can see, my setup has more effective HP than yours (by about 10000hp...) My setup has significantly higher repair amount than yours (leading to more damage being repped over time) My setup leaves more grid leftover than yours - allowing more damage modules to be put in the highs
Hopefully this will let you see why resists are better than HP
(only skills used here are armor repair lvl 5 (can easily be toned down) and hull upgrades lvl 5 (needed for t2 armor hardeners))

Fits i would use on a myrm.
Highs whatever (fit it last, its the least important part for this ship in missions)
Mids 5 cap rechargers
Lows 2 MAR's (t2 preferred) 4 hardeners (t2 preferred) *note on hardeners - fit them mission specific. Yes, that means either knowing what enemies you're facing and what to tank for them (it says it in the mission description, its a little icon), or checking eve-info.
rigs - optional, but if you use them, put a mix of cap rigs and aux. nano pump's until you're cap-stable.
Variations of the above setup basically revolve around switching out mids to use omni-directional tracking computers or drone navigational computers. I would also recommend putting a drone range link into one of your high slots. As for guns, put in whatever you want and whatever you can use most effectively. Artillery is recommended because it doesn't affect your cap for tanking, but rails are also very effective, and you can also put in beams, though they will detrimentally affect your cap.
Drones 3 wardens - i'd put these so that you can just sit at range and blast them as they come in. If you don't have the skills to use them though, its not a big deal 5 hammerheads - t2 preferred, but it doesn't really matter much 5 hobgoblins - to hit any little frigs that your hammerheads have trouble hitting
Make a point of learning how to get your opponents NOT to shoot your drones.
Alternative fitting
highs - whatever
mids 3 large shield extenders 2 shield hardeners (don't use invulns unless you can use t2) - mission specific preffered
Lows mix of shield power relays and PDU's until you have it cap-stable
Rigs 3 shield recharge rate rigs
Drones - same as other setup
With this setup, artillery is highly recommended as your gun of choice
Hope this helps

Would you be so kind as to give your opinion on my lows? I was thinking of
1 x EANMII 3 x specific active armor hardeners II 1 x MAR II 1 x 1600mm Rolled tungsten plates
But I might switch the 1600 plates for another MAR II. Would it matter much?

Your setup makes french baby jesus cry :)
Use the smallest rails possible since your damage bonus is to drones.
Focus on your tank, then your cap, then your damage last.
you need 2 med reps (used named ones not just the standard t1 ones)
Then you need resistances. If your skills are low i recommend using the eveinfo site mentioned above to get the damage types you will be facing and fit resistances for them.
Next you want an AB and then fill the rest of your mids with cap recharges. This should keep your tank running ok.
In your highs you will probs want a nos or two (due to your low cap skills you probabaly have). This will suck cap off npcs and help keep you going. I recommend you swap nos targets every so often otherwise you stop receiving any benefit from them.
Last fit whatever size rails you can (even if they are the smalled med rails).
Then fill up on the correct drones for the mission and off you go.
Hope this infos helpful. [url=http://killboard.outbreak-eve.com/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=48203]

First off guns are irrelevant on myrm since it has no boni for them, I used to use laz0rs since they require no ammo. You will need at least one DLA.
Second, NEVER use a fitting mod (RCU) to fit bigger guns cos they won't help.
Third, that 'Skadi' thing is a heatsink IIRC which is a damage mod for laz0rs, dump it.
Fourth, fit one MAR2 and 2 x 2 Rat specific hardeners and a CPR2 in the last slot.
Fit one nanobot accelerator and one aux nano pump in the rig slots for now.
Finally, ALWAYS fit T2 where possible and best named (meta 4) T1 if not.

Good advice up to the end. Ignore this part though.
T2 may or may not be better than best named. On each mod you're considering T2, use the compare feature to make sure its actually better (under the variations tab under info - button all the way at the bottom). Sometimes it has better mods with tougher fitting. Other times, it has identical mods with tougher fitting. Just because its T2, that doesn't mean its better.

RT plates for one.
Best named EW use less cap than T2, as well as having easier fitting.

OP - Weapons Upgrades and Advanced Weapon Upgrades will lower the CPU and power need of your rails, in addition there's a couple implants that will give you more CPU or grid or at least lower the reqs of your turrets etc.
But to be totally honest, with 1.3 mil in SP, put your Myrm in the hangar for a bit. What's your BC level, your medium hyrbid level and your drones skills? I know it's exciting to get into a new ship and level 2s get dead boring after a bit in a cruiser but the best advice I can give you is to not overstep what you can use. For a Myrm, you'll want T2 hardeners and T2 reps along with well skilled T2 drones to be effective, with rep amount and duration rigs as the icing on the cake.
Take it slow or you'll end up in a tech 1 fitted BS with skills barely good enough to pilot a cruiser effectively. ______

Your tank sucks badly, drop that plate and the RCU and fit 4 x hardeners (rat specific) and a DC or Magstab. Fit whatever guns you like then.
