I think pretty much every player in EVE has been victim of corp theft at one point or another. I have an idea, that if implemented by CCP, can greatly reduce the risk of corp theft:
Give corps an option to establish a "Board of Executives" or something like that. This Board of Executives would have exclusive control of 1 division of corp hangar. People could put their most valuable stuff in that hangar. When anyone tries to take something from that hangar division, an automatic request is generated and sent to all members of the Board of Executives. When the request is generated, the person requesting stuff can enter a reason for taking items, which is optional. Each member of the board will have an option to approve or disapprove the transaction. If 2/3 of the members approve it, then the items in question will be automatically transferred from corp hangar to personal hangar.
Note that this is just 1 division of hangar, so people could still use other divisions as normal. And even if members of the Board try to take stuff, they still have to go thru the automatically generated application process.
This system can work because it's not likely that 2/3 of the Board members conspire together to rob the corp. The down side is that it will take longer time to get stuff out, gotta wait till 2/3 people approve it. But then, that's the price of safety. And creating this Board of Executives should be purely optional, for the original CEO.

I think this is a great idea , but you should really put it in the Idea Lab forum so that those at CCP (Polaris) can get to your idea faster.

Oh yea, forgot something important: the CEO can create this Board of Executives, but he cannot disband it without 2/3 approval. New members also require 2/3 approval, same with removing people.
Just like Congress! well, not quite, but it's the idea of checks and balances on which US government was based on

Yeah, and look how well that works. It's time for the next election and they're still arguing over who won the last one.

You can't have total freedom and security at same time. Those 2 are mutually exclusive. You can sacrifice some freedom (such as ability to take things instantly) and gain some security (no one can take everything and leave the corp).
Note how this is similar to current situation in USA. hehe
And keep in mind that this system I proposed is optional. Don't like it? don't use it.

That would be pretty bad if three of your 6 executives would suddenly stop playing and never came online again...
You pretty much have no way of 'removing' them nor do you have any way of removing anymore assets from your corp
Maybe the chances of 3 of 6 disappearing are small but thes chancs increase when you keep alts and multyple accounts in mind...
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 16/04/2004 22:26:04 Give the CEO and that council the ability to attach tracking devices on modules they then place as bait, this in case they suspect something. Once taken they'll have an option to within 24 hours activate their 'sapper clause' where some shady characters follow the thief around for a somewhat random period of time, blowing up posessions, stealing assets and generally hassling the guilty party.
Of course making sure these sappers leave sometimes true clues about their identity and sometimes completely misleading ones implicating innocents.
Time for activation should be at the councils discretion, ranging from instant to in say 6 months.

that sounds fun Danton, but has potential for abuse. And it's just too radical for the likes of CCP
I stand by my original idea
