Are you planning on granting safe passage to those of us who are not part of the alliances that control the routes to your tournament? Both into and out of the tournament?
Some of us are not too comfortable in low-sec
The system where the games will take place will be announced at least a week in advance to the gladiators. They will be advised to relocate their ships to the location before a public announcement is made.
During the games, we will have private security at gates, cloaked and at the fighting points. I expect no troubles in this regard

OOC: I just read the news article and it pique my interest. I have a question about the RP/IG consequences of being killed in the arena. I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that in order for pilots to wake up after being killed, they much be killed from within a pod. If a pod pilot is killed in the arena, is that character expected to be dead forever?
This may seem like a silly question to some, but I'm curious since this is a "high stakes" event. __ Rorqual AKA Mega Maid

ooc reply The only silly question is the one never asked Mr. To answer your question, no, there will be no such role play consequences. The only ( inevitable) will be pilots to risk losing implants as we will follow the traditional gladiator style and the winner at the end will have the choice to pod their opponent if the guests so wishes. The famous " thumbs up or down" for original gladiator tales.
So, no, no death is forever inside eve.

Might I suggest a second system which I have heard discussed but have yet to actually participate in. It involves having all parties come out with a descriptive sentence in modified real time (being as the fight is fought in "turns" punctuated by moderator input at regular intervals but with the first to act after the mod's last comment is assumed to have started moving first, and failure to respond in an unexpected response in a certain amount of time counting as being caught by surprise) and the moderator awarding points to none, some, or all involved. A large point represents success, a small represents a hit, and no point represents failure. This cuts out the biggest problem with moderation in a chat setting (primarily the need for a lengthy pause as the moderator describes outcome, cutting it down to "big point X" or "small point Y" or "no points"). This, however, works best in RP settings that calls for formal duels or refereed events. It would require customizations for the event at hand.
OOC: As far as this system goes it doesn't seem practical for the style of RP that i assume Revan is going for. If you think about it, in this type of gladiator styled event the spectators are going to be look for a few things 1. Blood, whoever spills the most is going to have the upper hand 2. The moves/counter moves that each person makes based purely on sight of these moves happening, not based on writing down "Well that was an ok move it can have 1 point" 3. The winner of course
Further more i feel that judge active participation (aka actually typing the points in the channel as the fight is played) will be A) Distracting to participants in various forms B) Unrealistic (I personally don't feel as though judges would call out points during the match as that is what would be happening if you put it into the chat channel) C) Because its only 7 minutes long it would make it harder to complete the battle in the alloted time (it already looks hard tbh :D)
Judges could simply either go for 1. whoever they liked more based on the whole performance of the match not each move (which seems more realistic in RP terms)or.. 2. Keep the points written down and announce it later
That would of course depend on how many judges etc but i'm interested to see what Revan comes up with.

Qing's live feed starts coming in, Qing sitting at her desk with a quiet smile. Her right arm, still notably absent, seems dressed slightly from the way it used to be. The inert synthetic muscle, still not covered, is at least bundled into something slightly less obscene (or more-so, depending on how you feel about such rigorous physical enhancements).
She takes a sip of off-white colored soup, the steam curling about her face... and with eyes gleaming with a strange kind of fire, she speaks the oath slowly and clearly.
"I will endur to be burned, to be bound, to be beaten and killed by the strong..."
After the final word, she simply watches the screen for a few moments, and then her feed ends, leaving her Rabbit to stare at everyone for a while, before it too fades out from the transmission. |

Following the spirit of games, gladiators enters the fight to kill or die. Warpouts won't be allowed.
To ensure this we will count with the word each gladiator has signed here upon their honour. And... if this won'¿t suffice, they will be scrambled by or security upon arrival at the location.
Gladiators that breaks their oath will be announced publicily and face the consequences of it. Obviously one of them will be the automatically permanent banning from any further events.

ooc reply For the Arena fight, all just in text, yes. There is no certain place. It will work as all other previous events, guests, gladiators will send me an eve mail minimum 30 minutes before the starting time of the event ( opening doors)
This time we will have 4 channels:
1. Will be the initial gathering of gladiators, guests, reporters and general public. Myself and security will invite you, after receiving your mail of arrival.
2. CSM Hall channel : This will be the channel reserved to the VIP CSM guests, ISD reporters and general public where the speeches ( 5 minutes to each candidate) , debate and open time for questions and answers will be given. As always, this channel will have acess upon private clearance.
3. The Arena : This channel will be exclusively reserved to gladiators that will enter the arena, reporters, judges and the VIP guests only. Acess upon private clearance.
4. The space arena : as above, a channel reserved to gladiators of space combat , ISD reporters, judges, security and eventually VIP guests who will watch the matches. acess restricted.
Names of the channels will be sent to all involved by private mail.

Interms of space combat will combatants be allowed to restock in ammo and repair themselves at station between matches? Can combatants dock between fights basically. What happens if a tie is declared between two ship combatants say one is nano fit *lame* and another can perma tank him but not hit him. Interms of the arena combat will we respond to enemies blows by our reaction say he punches me in the stomach, then i say : i curl over in pain? if a player has to do this and make i9t realistic and dramatic for the fun of the fight wont he loss the fight? and ho do oyu finish someone off? could we have an example plz? thanks :)

Yes. The system works like this for better understanding:
Death cage arena 1
12 gladiators.
First gladiator (randonlly selected) will choose his opponent.
Match Gladiator A x B
Winner is classified to next round - rights to redock, re-fit, change ships ( as long as faction cruisers )
Defeated Gladiator is poded ( if the guests choses so ) and out of the games.
Death cage Arena 2 6 gladiators passes to next death cage and process starts again.
3 dies 3 advances
Death Cage Arena 3
The gladiator with the most impressive fight during the past 2 cages, gets to select his opponent. The third gladiator automatically goes to the final.
Death Cage Arena 4
2 gladiators. 1 winner.
Originally by: Rosaline BlueMoon What happens if a tie is declared between two ship combatants say one is nano fit *lame* and another can perma tank him but not hit him.
We will follow the gladiator theme, if fight is avoided and the match becomes non entertaining both will be declared unfit and desqualified for the next round. Remember this is an event with a gladiator theme. Think smartly to enter the theme.

As I explained before, what matters in terms of the arena fight is more style, originality, and entertainment level. In a dinamic set of role play with time and rt based we expect players to enter the theme and avoid clichTs and rp dissonances. To this effort, all fights will be adapted as to a high tech space ambience where judges and guests will ( role play wise) hold virtual shields around their gladiators until the final moment of the match. When all matches ends, we will be declaring winners of each match and his "opponent" gets his shield "turned off" for the winner to "finish him" with a final blow. We proceed like this in the same system as the space arena until the winner is declared.

Inviation for Guests ( We call VIP Guests ) will be the theme of the Forth Phase of this event which starts on the 20th April with the preliminaire guest list made public.
Usually the guest list starts as fixed with some prominent members of the capsuleer community who have been participating on my events since the first, but role play manouvers and unexpected things happens during this phase that leads other players to be invited as well. In advance, most of the cases happens during forum interaction. So if you would like to receive an invitation, be creative and apply when the phase 4 starts on 20th April. A new thread will be made about it.

I understand your concerns, which is why I suggested at the end that it normally is better suited towards formal duels and tournements. Things like fencing, kendo, and boxing have ref interactions built in which is what the moderation would normally take the form of, and this sytem would require modification to fit seemlessly into this setting. Although, the timing would be the single most damning arguement against such a system if it hadn't been tuned into the pattern of the fight.
After serveral experience I have come not to trust totally unmodded events, and prefer feedback on the effectiveness of blows. A real martial artist often changes plans and methods in the middle of fights to react to an opponent, something that I fear I would be unable to do effectively without a more or less objective method of determing success.
If my suggestion isn't going to work, it's fine. After all, it came rather late in the planning of the event. I would just like to know the basics of the system to be used before I commit. |

See this is typical childish rhetoric babbling... I was merely making a point that this would have been a nice opportunity for Jade and I to settle an old score in a nice friendlyish environment. Instead... the collective panties of the Free Captains get all wadded up and oh look the smack commences. My previous statements made on Gal net aren't the topic of discussion. Stick to the one at hand please... unless you know the ENTIRE situation on other topics I would recommend shutting your mouth. You wanna join the tournament by all means do so.
