How do you make your camera lock behind your ship, like in most space combat games? If there is no ingame way to do it, are there any UI mods that can accomplish this?

It's not possible, mainly because this isn't a FPS spacesim.

Of course this is not a space FPS (First Person Shooter) and it would continue to not be a FPS if the camera was locked behind your ship. It would in fact still be what it is now. A 3rd person space RPG, just from a differant view. So there is no way, whatsoever to have a normal locked camera perspective in this game?

He wants his camera to turn with his ship, I think, so that he's always looking forward, like a 3rd person dogfighting sim. Like Freelancer in cokpit mode, but zoomed out so the ship is visible. Or like WoW.

Thanks for the replies. Well, I suppose I will have to wait for CCP to add it in. It can't be that hard.

Maybe its more imersiv but it would hamper your fighting. _________________ itze mine RockŠn roll |

Not necessarily depending on what you're flying and how. In some circumstances, especially non-combat, it can be quite useful. For PvP it wouldn't do much, but the option would be handy very often.

After playing a bit you will find that you spend 90% of your time in space zoomed way out so you can see WTF is going on around you. -=^=-

Oh God, I really hope this never happens, one of the pleasures of flying about is playing with the camera angles, changing viewpoint, zooming and generally editing a space-movie as I go. I really dont want to be stuck looking at the rear-end of my ship for ever.
(Though btw Freelancer was teh win, now if CCP would fix things so you that when you took damage, your wings and guns got blown off ala FL, well that I would sign up for.)

Not to mention you get a headache from looking at the blast from your engine ports. Its like looking into the sun (wish there was a option to turn off the sun but not the light it sheds) when your warping in the general direction. - --- CHIEF EDITOR of the TENERIFIS NEWSPAPER

Doest 'reset camera' instantly switch you back to the FPS style view? Wont that work for you 90% of the time?
I really would not want my view to follow when my ship is doing a 180. I would get dizzy and fall out of my chair!

The 'reset camera' option just sets the camera to be following your ship, from a very close range. It won't change the viewing angle from what it was previously set to, and it certainly won't continue to change the viewing angle as the ship rotates.

I was about to say something similar - I expect I would actually be sick if I tried to pilot an interceptor for any amount of time!
Additionally, it would be very hard to target ships by ctrl-clicking on their icon in space, if your view kept changing every time you changed direction. I expect that as you play this game more and get a feel for how it works, you'll appreciate that having the option you suggested wouldn't be very feasible for actual use, other than as a vanity thing perhaps for capturing fraps.

Make EVE require player skill, I say! Only those who are uber enough to not fall out of their chairs should win.
