Hello, What would you guys say is the most durable small ship. It can be any single ship from any of these categories: frigates, interceptors, assault ships, covert ops, destroyers, or EAFs.

If you mean durable in the sense of tanky, Amarr AF if T2 fitted, Hawk if you bring deadspace boosters into the equation.
If you mean durable in the sense of survivable, an Interceptor or Covops. Hitting something that moves 6km/s is no mean feat, and of course, you can't kill what you can't see. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

retribution gets pretty ridiculous if you fit it right,
or a hawk
this out of all will remain, they have lived and have tossed; so much of the game will be gain, though the gold and the dice have been lost. |

As in taking damage, one of the AFs.
As in avoiding damage, probably a pimped speed crusader.
Nothing can catch it tbh, not even Minnie Recons (if it stays out of range.)

Dual small rep Retribution ( works with the right skills and modulated pulses) Gist shieldboosting hawk (expensive though) Vengeance Uber fast Crows should't have a problem Most passive tanked Assault frigs except Amarr
Those would be my best guess
I used to fly the Retribution alot when Assaults frigs where uber :) Sig removed. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to know why. -Conuion Meow

Don't forget the Caldari Navy Hookbill. +10% per level to Shield HP is pretty sweet. Then again, it's harder to fit than a Merlin AND it has split weapons (2 turret, 2 missile) AND it's slow.
Vengeance is probably my favorite small ship - I've always thought it might be a useful Afrig, but short of shooting miners and ganking mission fitted caracals I don't know what exactly I'd do with it. Punisher or Merlin for more reasonable priced "tough" ships, though the Merlin is still kinda hard to fit well after you jam weapons on there.

Caldari navy hookbill is best if you are willing to use faction gear and no weapons.
A jaguar with 2x med shield extenders, 2 resist amps, 3 sprs and 2x cdf's and 3x 150 mm ac's is probably the most realistic one. That being said the setup is pants and a nano'ed intie will survive longer in most cases. --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

The most durable small ship is definitely a Reaper. I've been given one as soon as I joined the game, it is still in my hangar. Very durable.

The Vengeance has the strongest tank out of any frigate sized ship in the game, period. But that doesn't necessarily mean it has the most SURVIVABILITY, because as a previous poster pointed out, avoiding damage can lead to more survivability than outright tank.
It's important to understand that regardless of what ship you fly, no matter how you fit it, there will always be another ship out there that can smack you around as easy as a cat with a toy mouse. That's the paper-rock-scissors "balance" thing happening.

I'm actually curious.
On Paper the Vengeance seems like it COULD be good at small scale piracy. It's got a supurb slot layout for the job, and so long as you don't think that MWD is an absoulute must have, no arguments to the contrary are accepted it can tank, tackle and gank very well for a frigate hull. It's bonuses seem tailor made for small scale low sec piracy in Caldari Space, and I'd be willing to bet a vengeance could annihilate my old Level II caracal without breaking a sweat.
So, while it seems good on paper, how does the real life performance of the Vengeance stack up in the grand scheme of things?

Erm, I guess. Lasers have always been good against shields - nothing new there.

Vengeance is a missile spammer =P Rockets in particular
Vengeance is black, black means khanid, and khanid means short range missiles and insane armor tanks that are impossible for other ships of the same class to break. In other words, in Amarr speak, Black = Death. A properly fitted vengeance with an AB and a SAR II can permarun both.

IMHO I think the vengeance is the only AF that is successful in emulating its HAC big brother. The harpy is trying to be a frigate sized eagle, the hawk is trying to be a frig sized cerb, and the Vengeance is trying to be a frigate sized Sacrilege.
It succeeds.

DOH! I totally forgot that they changed that. Sigh.
I guess it shows that I don't fly AF's... hell, I barely fly the wolf and jag, and they're the "best" AF's.
And still crap.

AFs are decent, the problem is that they offer nothing at all to a gang. But for solo work, they're great for small scale lowsec belt piracy and a skilled AF pilot can easily kill anyone in another frig based ship or a t1 cruiser.

I'd be really surprised to die to an AF in my Thorax, Vexor, Rupture, or Stabber. The T1 Amarr cruisers don't count.
Also, I'd be surprised to die to an AF in my Blackbird.

EWAR ships don't count =P. Also, piracy implies taking on a helpless PvE fitted ship. A good AF can own a PvE fitted cruiser =P

I'd put money on a regular fitted PVP frig, let alone a PVP AF. I took down a PVP caracal solo in my Rifter once.. was pretty funny.
Also, Taranis > all at this task. :P

Yes, for two reasons: - I don't often fly t1 cruisers anymore - I'm in 0.0 and there's an alliance moratorium on piracy.

I can fly both the Caldari and Amarr AF's and I'll say that the AF I fear the most would be either the enyo or the ishkur. They're excellent, excellent ships. ________
