This happens! (No fresh prince here, promise!)
I had just picked up my spanking new Abaddon, fully fitted to activly tank and do nice sniper damage from 80+ km away. I thought to myself "I need a good mission to test this bad boy out"
So off I went and spoke with my lvl 3 (yes 3, didn't want to go overboard...) agent in Hisoufad. Off I go on a 7 part storyline mission, and breeze though the first 4 parts. Then I get the 5th part "Take care of a rogue drone infestation in Chemilip". Easy I thought, ive done the rogue drone harrasment missions.
Here is where my story turns sour.
I head off to the area and notice a large setup of energy neutralizing drone sentries, webber sentries and light missle sentries. Missles and webbers didnt worry me, and tbh I thought i could destroy the energy neutralizers before they became a problem. I take down two of them, leaving three, and im down to two thirds cap. No worries here, have 2x cap recharger IIs fitted and a couple of rigs to increase it further. Then the little encampment decides to send out, oh, about 50 assalt drones all travelling at the speed of light and dealing quite a lot of damage combined :(.
I take a good chunk of them down, with my own little electronic friends, and then realise im down to about one quarter cap (uhoh!). I hit my cap booster and decide to go back to the energy neutralizser sentries. I run out of cap, my lasers cease, my active tank and repper stops, and I let out a long, drawn out sigh..... I'm down to 50% armour, admit defeat, and try to warp out. BUT, in my haste to switch targets a drone "mother ship" has snuck in and warp scrambled me!!! I sit and watch my new ship blow up and die a little inside....
I log off for an hour to mourn, regain my composier, and come back and win the day. I send in my previously retired Apocolypse fitted to take down the hordes of drones. Same story, only quicker this time. Then again, with a second apocolypse.... I realise it is not my night, and leave the wrecks of my lost ships in dead space :(.
I managed to stop my self throwing my computer out of my bedroom window. At this point I realised:
This is why I love this game. One minute you're flying high, the next the game has a some what cruel and evil way of brining you crashing (no pun intended) back to earth.
Fly safe people, and never get ahead of your self and think you're invincible :D

this sounds pretty wild that dps could be so high, what is the exact name of the mission? ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

New Frontiers.
There must be atleast 10 threads like yours on the forum already, plus there is a red warning text in the mission description that you might want to take a friend along.
And then there is the mission guides at eve-survival.

this the offender? I'm pretty sure I did this in a zealot before the patch. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

Please note, my post was not a complaint! I picked up the mission, scanned the description, and underestimated it :).
Was frustrating, but I still play the game, and my post was just a short story to tell people to not take anything for granted! (I.e. I missed the text, didnt really pay attention to it etc....)
Sorry if that offended your some what fragile nature, I will try not to do it in future :P

It was 5 of 7. My first time doing that mission required about 6 warp-outs. This was before there was any info on the mission on EVE-Survival.
Fortunately, I asked in corp chat what kind of drones warp scramble before I flew into the mission. Killed them all first and had no trouble getting out. I've heard rumors of the drone BS warp scrambling from 30km or something, but never got close enough to find out.

My understanding of this mission is that each tower you kill spawns certain numbers of drones, so it sounds like you killed several triggers.

Take heart. That's an uncharacteristically hard L3 mission. It's tougher than most L4 missions.

Edited by: Kyeela on 19/04/2008 21:56:33 Edited by: Kyeela on 19/04/2008 21:56:15 Did this mission today with 2 BS - one had to warp-out, the other stayed to finish. Definitely not a mission for a player trying out his first lvl 3s in his new cruiser... although I wonder if it might be possible to out-run the drones then snipe from a distance in a fast ship, maybe with a drone-range augmentor.
One addition: The drone BS is a "Supreme Alvus Parasite", didnt find a hint about warp scrambling and don't believe it did because usually it's the small fast ships that web and scramble: http://npc.elfarto.com/view.php?id=23500
There are some Strain Drones in the mission who warp scramble, though - maybe these did the trick on your Abaddon: http://npc.elfarto.com/view.php?id=25687

I didn't know the BS could scramble. I did know about the five neutralizing towers and the scrambling frigates. This is a tough mission and not meant to be done alone.

Edited by: Hanneshannes on 19/04/2008 22:27:23 www.eve-survival.org/missions is pretty ftw.
It's no new story, I've heard of that mission killing BS before, simply because BS are pretty ****** w/o cap. I don't think there's any BS capable of passive tanking missions well, except for a rattle really.
It was very stupid of you to throw 3 BS in there though, when a certain caldari battlecruiser I bet everyone knows can do it without breaking a sweat :D
did it on my own 4 times and helped countless mates with it.

It's a special BS rat, not like the regular drone BS.
Why is there a Domi BS anyways? In the mission briefing (from a caldari agent) it says that it broke out of a CN station.

i lost my Drake to that mission yesterday. my drake can tank Guristas Extravaganza just fine including the bonuse room, but a ****ing level three took it out. the worst part is when i bought a new drake i was not paying attention and bought the wrong rigs wasting 40million Isk :( |

5 of 7 has Half dozen Nuetrilizer towers, a web tower, and then the chance of drones that can scramble (all on a lvl 3 mission!)
The amount of people i speak to who loose their battlecruiser on this mission is amazing, aswell quite a few Amarrian pilots using Pulses
Large Smartbombs are great on the mission
Hope to hear your next installment when you get to Enemys abound^^

First up i checked for a " fresh prince " and was somwhat disapointed.
Secondly you know you can bm you're wreck and pick it up after you turned in mission uncompleted ?
But this mission is one of my favorite's, better than a lot of lvl 4's in fact i seem to get in more trouble in the next combat part for some reason Think it's cause i'm crowing to corp mates in their shiney faction bs's that my little bc is done what they scared to try

Edited by: Kano Sekor on 05/05/2008 10:15:20 I almost had the same fate in a lvl 4 mission was grinding down the BS:es and didnt notice getting scrambled. Killed the wrong BS and it triggers reinforcement, DPS goes ape**** and i startsed to bash the warp button only to realise im being warp scrambled. I also realise my drones have been eaten, started to get a bit nervous now but slammed on my smartbomb and luckily it takes out the scrambler when im about 53 % into structure i thank my DCII for surviving that [insert phew face] ----------------------------------------------------------------------
