The OLD matte black Nighthawk was amazing too, now it's just a dark grey meh with stripes that don't match up with the surface contours/details. Annoying really. Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. - H.L. Mencken |

That's more or less true for most Amarrian ships.
Apparently, they have yet to learn to appreciate simple beauty provided by "flying grey brick" aesthetics. |

Hrett wrote:For me it's the Megathron. Seeing a picture of it basically made me start playing eve. It's like an old school corvette stingray of spaceship facemelting beauty. I too enjoy the Maga immensely. It looks mean and the first time I saw a Mega close with an outlaw skull on it I thought wow that is a mean looking ship. 30 seconds later that fact was confirmed. Double Hull Designs are always sexy and the Conning Tower is just the Icing on the Cake. Top it off with the Double Ram Front and damn.
I love the simplistic design of the Geddon. Rounded Hammerhead front, tubular body with a near engine block with big Guns positioned laterally as well as along the top forward and near underbelly. Large Space Fighter Bay, Big Ship Smashing Guns a Ton of Armor and lots of Tiny Windows + Command Bridge. It has all the most classic elements of your common Sci Fi Space Battleship except it is bright gold. It comes in Grey with Jet Black Streaks to for a little extra.
My favorite is the raven though. Giant Bird of Prey that spews Missiles has held a lot of joy for me. She is a little ugly and I hate that stubby wing (Wish it were a tiny bit closer to its counter part.) but the industrial design covered in Antenna's with a modular Bridge is pretty cool. Finally I like that it is small. It doesn't need a large mass it has Heavy Shields for defense and Compact Torpedo Launchers that Smash Ships up. Everything about it screams small High Tech killing Platform, it is a Pocket Battleship.
I actually like every Battleship in EVE. A few more then others but the ones people tend to hate I find interesting especially in their Backstory and why they are made the way they are. The Dominix is an especially appropriate design. |

I would call the Star Destroyer a rather unique design. Their wasn't much like that before and the Triangle Wedge hasn't really been that prominent in the majority of non Star Wars media.
It is definitely more popular now then but your average Space Warship usually has a cylindrical, hexagonal or rectangular design to it. Their is no defined way with saucers, triangles, rectangles, wings and ovals but the long space rod full of guns model usually seems to be the basic design for a stock space warship especially in novels.

But no doubt, the two hulls I like best are the Navy Geddon and the Navy Omen. Having to choose between them would be tough. I guess the Navy Geddon would make it eventually, if I'd really have to decide. |

Frigate: Tristan
Looks like a Flying Japanese Fighting Robot. I was severely disappointed when I discovered that it can't fly up to other ships and punch them.
Destroyer: Thrasher
Looks like the ideal patrol ship with it's spotlight and I like how it's the only symmetrical destroyer
Cruiser: Omen
It just looks amazing overall. The appendage on one side makes it even better as without it the ship seems incomplete but with both on each side it just looks bulky and unbalanced.
T3 Cruiser: Tengu
I just love the sleek smooth surfaces on this thing. Paired with the slopes on the side (and front with CPU) make it look like it can take a hit too as it reminds me of sloped armor on tanks.
Battlecruiser: Hurricane
Looks like a Star Destroyer only with solar panels and the small amount of windows make it look ready for battle
Battleship: Megathron
Looks like a spaceship right out of the 50s.
Carrier: Chimera
Intimidating and cool looking.
Super Carrier: Nyx
Now this looks like an actual carrier! With the runway down the center and it's shape in general makes it look like it's ready for more than just launching ships.
Dreadnaught:
Revelation only because the others look terrible
Titan: Leviathan
The Avatar looks like a mushroom, the Erebus looks like it's flying backwards, and the Ragnorak just looks like a hodgepodge of random ship parts. So by default the Leviathan wins.

The Dominix has been around for hundreds of years since the Cal / Gal War that split the Federation. It is still being manufactured and older models upgraded to meet new technology.
You can just imagine that over the Centuries so many of them have probably been decommissioned and like Ghost Yards full of WWII / Cold War Destroyers, Submarines, Cruisers and Fighter Planes, Bombers, Transport these outdated Ships have been sitting frozen in Space striped of Power, Weapons, Technology in pristine conditions. Sitting in scrap yard by the thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or maybe even millions by the number of ships seen in this game just abandoned. In the Rogue Drone Storyline Missions that tell their origins the original Experiment Model was an old Dominix.
I used to imagine that not only do they build their own Dominix Models but that they may have early on raided Scrap Yards and Backwater Military Facilities infesting and stealing them in massive quantities giving the Drones the power to fend off the initial Gallente counter attacks. Just adding Sensors, Engines, Shields and Weapons to bring them up to basic standards forgoing EWAR and Repair present on most other NPC Ships. Meanwhile using Scrap Medal and Salvage to construct a fleet of Smaller Cruiser and Frigates in their cobbled together Drone Hives.
I really think that the Dominix was a very well thought out choice. Props to the Dev who came up with it. |

Dominix looks kind of like someone was inspired by the hull of a galleon out of the 1600s. It's as if one of those hulls was modified by cutting out the middle and sticking together the front and rear. Not my favorite looking ship, but it's quite the original.

I like it because most of the other Ships in EVE are streamlined to a singular role. The Dominix looks like and is shown in the Stats to seem like anything but. A good sized array of weapons, a large fighter bay, thick Armor, lows and mids for multirole from EWAR, Tackle, Damage, Drone Module Support, Neutralizers, Remote Reps and Drone Control Mods all give it a well deserved reputation as the Multirole Battleship. The more Bulky Design makes it seemingly capable of carrying Drop Ships and loads of Vehicles with lots of room for a ground contingent.
It seems like the kind of Main Line Warship that would be created and used by the Gallente Navy back when they were just starting out with a real Space Force and could not afford to fill fleets dedicated roles like Logistics, Damage, Drone Support, EWAR, Troop Transports, Bombardment Ships and so on. So they built one to handle all of that, a Battlestar if you would. Not caring about aesthetic over functionality, something a Big Space Whale with lots of room for everything you need in a big thick Armor Shell could handle. |

Funny you should mention that. I am pretty sure I will get around to it soon.
I already started on the first chapter. It is about an Ammatar Capsuleer who has joined the 22nd Imperial Crusade. He is just learning that he is effectively Immortal after an accident and struggles to cope with his new identity now that he can look like anyone and do anything with little consequences. Everything he was is now changeable in a World with no rules and being a member of the Crusade is his connection to his home land. With a broader view come struggles with his Faith at the treatment of the Minmatar he fights and whose ancestry he shares while playing War and Politics on a grander scale then he could imagine as a simple kid from a backwater region.
He encounters Piracy, Drones, Null Sec Politics and the General hustle of a now completely open Universe he has just discovered. I really want to get into the idea him loosing himself and who he because who would be the same after the Money, Power and Immortality of Capsuleer life. How do you hold on to what is important in a strict Religious upbringing when you become the God.
When I make headway I will EVE Mail you a link to it. I have some pretty cool Ship Fights for all your Pew Pew needs gamed out as well. I hope I do well with this, it is the first thing I have planned to write. It is going to be above 40k Words and at least 12 Chapters so light novel length. |

Small correction: The only tech 1 Battleship with less base armor is the Scorpion.
For me the best is the Nighthawk.
The Megathron looks like a real Battleship. Many frigate hulls have great shapes: Merlin, Incursus, Punisher, Maulus, and the Rifter. While the fatman of eve looks like a robot ..

I hate them and I love them: Caldari ships. Even in moments when I should really fly other stuff to have 'the best tool for the job' I have this irrational tendency to pick a Caldari hull.
They are dark, subtle and cool. Especially after V3 - all T1 hulls look much darker and less light grey now. I really like how Caldari ships almost disappear in a dark area of space.
Unfortunately I don't really like almost all T2 variants. Kaalakiota is ok (was better before!) but Ishukone and Lai Dai are way too golden and shiny imho |

No correction needed. Back then it was the only Tech 1 Battleship that currently existed so you can not really compare it to the others. What is more the For a Multirole Warship I would say they probably considered its Armor more then sufficient.
What is more it has the exact same amount Armor as the current Typhoon only being beaten out by the Armageddon which as stated did not exist.

Just had to say how much I hate the look of the Thrasher because I know everyone cares about my opinion. It looks like a damned fish to me, especially when it's doing ****** bumpy fishtailing around acceleration gates that it shouldn't be bumping into on warp in, but this has been a feature for as long as I remember, so I guess it's working as intended. I like when my ships look like broken shopping carts, not when they handle like it. Otherwise, completely dig the rust bucket Minmatar aesthetic. Best looking ship in the game eh? Hmm that's a hard one... My choice will get a lot of WTF? replies. I LOVED the pre-raphics update version of the AEON super carrier. The new one is still nice, but the old one had working searchlights, a lit up control tower, and a force field over the hanger bay doors. And with the runway lights, it just looked like a giant airport in space.
New one is still ok'ish, just not as detailed as it once was. |

I actually like the looks of the Thrasher for the same reason you hate it.
For me, the best looking ship has always been the Magnate/Anathema though. I'd also like to throw in that most ships are ugly (no matter what race), and that all races have their brief, golden moments when it comes to designing aesthetically good looking vessels. Other favorites of mine are Megathron (all variants), Rokh, all freighters, Atron (all variants) and Coercer.
Cruisers are generally the class where I'm having trouble finding any good looking ships at all.
The definite winner though, is an NPC ship: The Roden Police Major. That's one beast of a ship.

Props to the Machariel designer for fusing the Gallente dual hull theme with the "we finish fights, not ships" Minmatar theme.
Seconding the Machariel. Its huge, its got the split hull thing going on, and it looks like Galactica! |

Of all the ships I currently own 2 stand out, My Rokh and my Hookbil. Nothing I've flown comes close to those two in pure sexy looks.
Of ships I haven't flown yet but plan to, I'd say the Vargur, Naga and Loki looks the most sexy.
Ships I never plan on flying (probably) but still looks awesome would be Legion and Abaddon and Navy Scorp.

There is one ship that, in its class, has the most undeniably formidable, tough and predatory aspect. It just seems to foam at the mouth with aggression while staring at your nuts. It has the name, the looks, and the attitude.
And it backs all that up with damn near half a million EHP from a T2 fit and one implant...
Damnation.

Dont ask me why, i dont know, but i love the Typhoon hull. Its just the imbodyment of Minmitar with its, "so it works..." look, and serious amount of rust.

I'm surprised so many people like the Megathron. When I saw it I thought it was the most hiddeous ship in Eve. It's split hull design makes no sense (no split hull design makes sense from an engineering point of view) and other than that it looks lumpy and weird (like most Gallente ships).
My favorites are the caldari capitals (any of them). They actually look like you would expect a spaceship to look like. |

I'm pretty sure he means SPACE hulls since, you know, that's what we are talking about in a SAPCESHIP game
That said, on the SEA double hulls make all the sense in the world, quite hard to sink for one, added stability for another. |

Larger surface area for shield emitter's, weapons, sensors. Damage control (segment one part whilst the other still works), construction (can be built in identical (ish) parts). Efficiency (power supply in parallel not series). Different dynamics for maneuvering... ect.

To be honest, they should replace all the Khanid flavored Amarr ships with EOM paint schemes. |

+1 for Mega... totally the coolest looking ship. And its pirate off shoot the vindi isn't half bad in giant ship on ship combat.

Personally, I'm glad to see it's still in game as it looks better imo. |

Yeah, Mega is my favorite, but Brutix is a close second. I would bet out of all of the promotional screenshots, magazine covers, etc, the Brutix is probably the most used hull.
