It's pathetic that CCP would shut down such a successful player run organisation like Somer Blink.
They will undoubtably pay for this mistake through lost plex sales and lost subscribed accounts. |

Well, lets take a look at that... 45m per GTC purchased, through the buyback, not that much of a reward to start out with, moreso a perk for being a loyal customer.
Would you also want to cut down any reseller who provides discounts in RL money or prizes? They are called loyalty programs.
Somer could have provided an out of game draw giving away RL items as prizes, would that also have been a problem? Or would you have objected because those RL items could be traded for RL money and then converted to GTC?
I'm trying to get where your coming from, but I just don't get it.

Can i say this is music to my ears, its a shame yes, i like a good blink, but like countless others.
But i am sure yo will agree, it takes over logic, you play the game, and a chance to win really big its just so appealing ..to appealing and your buying plex, selling blinking losing, buying plex again, selling blinking losing, then doing it again, some cases i am sure its plex and blink b4 food, without even thinking .
lack of self control some will say, yea it is, some have it some don't, but its not good to have something so enticing.

It's not that big, but it's the principle. If Somer is allowed to do RMT-like loyalty programs, everyone else in the game would need to be allowed to do it too. And as we found the last time around, that escalates really quickly. Can I sell someone one ETC with the promise to buy a plex back for 5 billion isk? It becomes straight RMT at that point.
Plus Somer's email with the CCP Sales staff was plain BS designed to cover his purpose. That's what I'm most annoyed by and feel should be punished. The first time around was a firm clarification of the rules: no RMT through referral programs. He knew better.

That's fine, they can give RL discounts on their RL sales. That costs the reseller RL money. One time Amazon had a pricing error and sold plexes for like $1.50 each. I didn't get any, but the few people who lucked into seeing it at the right time got hundreds. Amazon took a bath and lost a bunch of money.
When someone is giving away real money it's a self-limiting problem. Isk on the other hand is virtually infinite.

I'd be ok with Somer doing a RL raffle / lottery, even one that he organized as a donation drive to keep his site running if the rules and cut were well defined. Provided he followed all the RL laws for such a thing, which is not easy when running an international lottery. Everyone can then do whatever they want with their RL prizes.
I'd shake my head at people who gave real money to someone just to continue to operate a gambling web site, but it's an addiction I guess. |

I like gambling and somer provided a relatively cheap way of providing a gambling experience. Every PLEX i bought went into blinking but it's way cheaper than any real life gambling sites. I think CCP will feel the hit to PLEX sales due to this...
The speedy reimbursement of the account balance show how decent these guys are, I got my 5b I had sinked into the 1,9Q bonk straight away. I will miss the fun gambling and the awesome community and wish to thank the somer guys for all the fun they have provided. I'm sad we won't experience the 2Q craziness...

they got comission from markee dragon if players bought a PLEX that they then sold to BLINK and traded into ISK.
Basically
step 1, ask player to buy PLEX at markee dragon (earmark the comission to blink).
step 2. player sells PLEX to blink for ISK. Gets slightly more ISK in the lottery system.
step 3. player loses said money, (well some win, but most lose)
Net result:
Somer gets a certain comission for each sale, and the PLEX can be resold back to market again and ISK is made back.
Netting IRL money on each plex.
Personaly i got banned about a year ago.
After loosing about 300 billion isk on blink.
And getting banned was the best thing that happened to me in eve..
