Yesterday I ventured far inside Pure Blind, mainly to do some exploring and the path I used from hi-sec was fairly quiet.
I bookmarked a couple of safespots when checking the regions out and i left my ship in one of these safespots and logged out.
Today I read that some players can find ships in safespots and have managed to steal them!
Is this because the ship is empty as the pilot has ejected. If you log off, does your ship completely disappear and can never be found with probes, as long as you are still in it?

If your ship is out there, people can scan around and see what ships are there... I dont think ships with no pilots disappear..might be wrong, but i doubt it. If you are in a ship however, it will disappear after a certain amount of time.

if you log out without agression you will vanish from space in 60secs
in the old days before scan probes you could eject from a ship and log off and that ship would be hard to find, - there where a few pilots that could track them down using real skills [not in game ones]. this is probably not done anymore
you should be safe ... mostly -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve &

Pilotless ships stay in space and can be probed down and taken. As long as you're in your ship when you log off, it disappears and can't be stolen.

Thanks...
...at least I know my shuttle will still be there when I log back in, later, so I can continue exploring! I'm not looking forward to the 40+ jumps it will take me to get back to Domain, so hopefully I'll find a player willing to pod me!

Just a word of warning. Skilled pirate can scan down the safespot you warped to in less than a minute. That is if he saw you warping that way. Nothing nastier than to barely escape a tight situation only to get enemy gang to jump after you 40 seconds later when you think you're "safe"

If you don't have implants (or have ones you don't mind losing), you can self destruct your pod for a quick free 'jumpclone'. ---- In the beginning the Universe was created. Technically, no safe-spot is actually safe, you can be probed out no matter where you are in system.
The best way to ensure you are safe in your safe-spot is to fit a cloak to your ship. Then when you need to run away and hide you hit your SS and cloak. Now you cannot be scanned out. -=^=-

Edited by: Khanto Thor on 02/04/2008 15:57:54 Thankfully my safespots have stayed safe, and my ship is not found when I'm offline.
I've survived 3 days inside 0.0 space and am now deep inside Deklein. Planning to head towards the drone regions to do more exploring!
This brings me to my next question, in one system, there must've been about 10 serpentis battleships at different belts. I noticed the bounty on each one was 1mil ISK. ...now if I wanted to go ratting battleships in 0.0 space in the future, what is the smallest ship that I could use, would I be successful with a stealth bomber? or would I need something a lot bigger!

yeah, bombers can be effective at killing rats in 0.0 - decloak, shoot, wair for missiles to hit, cloak. ofcourse, pick off the smaller rats first. I've heard that AF's can be effective as well, but with a bit more pilot skill. you can sue prtty much anything as long as it packs enough DPS to pop a rat, and has a way of tanking them
