Nexa Necis	Posted - 2008.04.02 07:00:00 - [1] /drama on We had run into some idiot who was running missions with a war target of ours. We probed out their mission and killed the war target. We were nice enough to not interfere otherwise with their mission by take loots, agressing, etc. In return I got a bucketfull of smack talk and threats from Wolf Vanberg the CEO of that other corp. I advise I will war dec them, and he of course says go ahead, TRAPS sucks, TRAPS can't kill anything, etc, etc. The dec goes through, we pop one or two of them, he immediately quits corp, telling members a bunch of lies about us and then joins that corps alt corp. So I advise we will dec that one too so they boot him finally. He joins Eve Uni and laughs because he feels secure we won't bother following. I evemail one of the Eve Uni diplos and give them a low down along with the emails from his corpmates who told me all the crap he said about me. For instance, he claims I was mad at him for somehow killing me and evading Concord and because my ship wasn't returned via petition, I was war decing them. He failed to mention his smack talking bravado. So the diplo emails me and says we will look into it, but the smack talker has no real status or position in the corp so they really aren't concerned. Fair enough. Then we find another smack talking show off type corp. We dec them. I get the usual emails of smack talk. "You're gonna be sorry!", "You don't know who you're messing with!" etc, etc. The war starts and we kill a few of them. I catch one in a Nighthawk in my Domi and he redocks before I can pop him. He makes snide comments about how UBER his tank is and how I would never break it. Yet he docked...hmmm...ok. Then later in the day it's me and 6 of them in system at their HQ. The Nighthawk undocks and attacks, so I sit there, knowing full well there's more people close by. Sure enough they get 10 or so people, undock and try to kill me. Obvious trap and it fails. Then the smack talk begins. Their pilot in a Damnation basically calls me out for not fighting 10vs1 even though he ran from a 3vs2 earlier and left his partner to die. He claims it was a 5vs1.5 but somehow our other 2 pilots aren't on the killmail for his Drake pilot friend. Yeah, ok, sure. So meanwhile in local they're making veiled threats, "I feel sorry for you in 4 hours you're a dead man." etc, etc. A few hours later my email flashes with a Concord notice showing that Ivy League has absorbed Legion of Lost Souls. Apparently they are BFF's with Ivy League and were in an alliance with them or something. I guess even though it's a pretty even match, LOLS command ships and T2 gank squads aren't enough to vanquish the TRAPS threat, so they resorted to begging their Ivy League friends for help before 1 day of war was over. Damn, I wish we had friends. /drama off This is definitely going to be fun win or lose. Good luck out there guys and gals! Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

If you define "smack" as in critice other individuals or corporations actions and opinions - then yes, this thread is "smack". I, however would like to define smack as: "U cowardly insert ugly word, U r a insert ugly word and I will crush you utterly U NOOB insert ugly word, insert ugly word!!! In game is a different story. The people referenced in that campaign were sitting there calling people racist and homophobic slurs in game, repeatedly. Big difference in my book. All of our smack is kept in corp chat where we feel it belongs.

Ivy League, to me, is contradicting it's charter and guidelines. Their corp bio states, "Ivy League is the alliance of Eve University, a neutral non-profit institiution, dedicated to helping new pilots make a good start in New Eden." The corp we dec'd isn't new. They're older than us. They have as many players as us, who fly high end ships with officer/faction gear and should easily be able to put up a decent fight. So by them absorbing them to assist in the war, that takes them out of being a neutral entity since we had no contact/encounters with them. They imply to be a diplomatic entity but there was never any word from them about the war, only threats from their friends in Lost Souls. I find it funny the corp they are assisting doesn't seem to follow the Ivy League guidelines. "IVY members are to act with respect towards other pilots within IVY and across Eve Online. IVY members are not to smack-talk in local or in any other channels under any circumstances. But it's all good to me. A couple of my guys got roasted today when they went to Korsiki looking for some fun. War fun(d) donations are gladly accepted since it's going to cost us quite a bit to wade through Eve Uni to get to the people we want.

They have a huge economic impact, and many are pirate or 0.0 PvPer alts. Anyhow, incompetence in self defense is no excuse to not attack someone in EVE. Mastercard would probably pay for it. The 'harmless' mission runner was running missions with a war target. It's his fault, though he doesn't say if they killed both of them. Read the OP again. As for this war ... Nexa, i think you found a match. I would guess that EVE-Uni is probably one of the few alliances in this game that you can hit, and that could outlast your war, since this is basically your primary tactic. Then again, working in small gangs, killing their mission runners/miners very effectively and using noob corp alts to find them and striking with fast ships might actually do it. But going in that plated Domi of yours against them solo, will get you killed. :) Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

I always thought smack was defined as the public or private goading of somebody performed when no alternative action presents itself at the immediate time, as either a defeated, victorious or stalemated party. But I've never actually looked it up in the dictionary. I've never thought of it as bad, in fact I think of it as good. But I also recognise there is well performed smack, and very poorly written smack. And the two are difficult to confuse.
