If your cap drains to fast on you ship you might want to fit it with something that makes it recharge faster. What Ive been calculating on is if its better to use a cap battery than a cap recharger.

Edited by: Ki Anna on 02/04/2008 14:33:36 Good job on the guide.
A couple of things to keep in mind.
- Sustained cap is not always what you need most. Sometimes (often in PvP) you need a burst of cap for a couple of minutes, and will then have several minutes to recharge. In these cases cap batteries are more useful regardless of the difference in regenerated cap. Other factors, such as fitting, might still encourage the use of Rechargers over Batteries.
- Your peek recharge rate at ~30% is about 2.5 times your overall average recharge rate. So you would be able to sustain a much heavier cap drain than the number you cited would lead you to believe.

Thanks for this. I've already got an idea from it.

To add a bit on roger, I would say that :
Cruisers are good at using medium batteries, just as frigates, the cap a medium battery adds is both high compared to the original cap and the fitting is ok (but for CPU mostly).
For destroyers and battlecruisers, the story is different because they have both higher cap (so the % increase of a battery will be smaller) and still low fitting capability. Note that you can try to fit a one size bigger cap battery on heavy assault ships, battlecuisers and command ships, depending on your fit, the fitting requirements are not so horrible. Examples would be the zealot that may afford a capacitor battery on a pulse fit or the absolution that could do the same on a pulse fit. Still, it requires very high fitting skills to reduce the battery's CPU and increase the ship's fitting capabilities. Even with the zealot which is the cruiser sized ship with the biggest capacitor in the game, a medium capacitor battery II will provide as much recharge as a cap recharger II.
So, think twice when you have CPU and powergrid free, a cap battery may fit, and named ones are really good for cap bonus against fitting.
For destroyers, forget it, well, they're not made for anything but holding guns and weapon upgrades! The gap between small and medium is just too big to fit medium sized equipement (appart from medium shield extender which is the only except I guess). -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Now no one mentioned the rig counterpart--semiconductor memory cell which provides a 15% boost to cap rather than a set amount like the battery does. I use one on my mrymidon (bc) along with two ccc rigs. Also they cost less these days as they are mostly made from the mcc melted capacitor console which has come down in price recently.
