How is the supercomputer coming along that was mentioned at the 2007 fan festival? It is supposed to be deployed in late 2008 and should eliminate all server-side lag from the game. Is Microsoft really helping? Can we expect a dev blog in the near future?

No bro Hilmar mentioned it on his presentation at the 2007 fan festival and we haven't heard anything about it since. EVE requires large fleets to accomplish many things and its currently impossible to have large fleet battles without major lag. This is the most important fix on CCP's table. You can take ambulation and all the other projects being worked on and flush them down the toilet until lag is fixed as far as I'm concerned.

I couldn't agree more.

Well Hilmar mentioned in the last year's fanfest that they had target date for this year. I wouldn't hold my breath tho as it's not easy building a super computer which requires really low latency. Even if they would achieve that, they still need to modify the current code so that it'll actually run correctly on it.

yep. I'm so glad ccp works on making this game better all the time. I love their devotion to the game.

agreed. i wish they would integrate the emulation with the other flaws in the UI. I want the UI to get fixed along with the lag.

Uhh... That way we'd never progress at all -- for who defines perfection? I do think that while fixing bugs (or even finding them) is slow and hard work, it eventually gets done, even in Eve. While waiting for that, having something new to do is a great way to spend time.
