What F'nog said.
Watch the 1957 one with Henry Fonda. Seriously good film.
Had me riveted from start to finish.

One called Dhoom 2 was on tv recently. seriously wtf.
edit: heres the start of the synopsis from wiki: The police are baffled by a master thief known only as Mr. A (Hrithik Roshan) because he leaves an 'A' symbol after each robbery. Aryan steals the English crown by sky diving onto a train, disguising himself as the queen, stealing the crown, and escaping.

I agree, there are so many films I've watched lately on DVD where I have skipped entire scenes because I can either guess what the ending is going to be and can't be bothered to sit through the film to get to it's obvious ending - or I just need to skip through the uninteresting slow scenes to get to the action scenes in the hope of being dazzled by some slo-mo fight / bullet sequence.
Recent examples:
The Good Shepherd American Gangster Ļon Flux Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Man on Fire Borat
I think the issue is watching the films at home. If I were to of watched these at the cinema I would have given them more time - it's too easy to hit the fast forward button at home.

I managed to get to about halfway thru "Troy" before I couldn't take any more. I think I managed about 10 minutes of "Anger Management" before the same thing. Some movies are simply not meant to be watched. -------------

Pretty much ANY movie involving any of the following actors:
David Spade Chris Farley (Sad he's dead, but glad he can't make any more crappy movies) Adam Sandler
Or pretty much ANY of the same kind of broad, lowbrow, physical humor these guys used. I just don't find that kind of movie funny AT ALL. Just stupid. I guess I just can't bring myself to find people acting like fecking morons to be funny.

The only DVD I've bought and not been able to watch all the way through is Snakes on a Plane. I liked it in the cinema, but now its just so difficult.
Other DVD/Films I avoid:
Napoleon Dynamite Doomsday 2012 Pirates of the Caribbean 3 Alien Autopsy Borat Any Adam Sandler Babel Probably a few more. also any horror films (It's just something I don't enjoy watching!)

The original Oceans 11. If you don't like the Rat Pack's style of music (which I don't), then this movie has nothing for you.
Napoleon Dynamite. Know I'll catch flack for this one, but I found the cow-shooting scene funny, and nothing else.

Doom - so painful. It was every clichT from every action film ever Independence day - Had to fight against turning it off halfway through. Generic trash. Ultraviolet - vampires, future, art and Milla Jovovich do not a great film make. Don't think I got passed 10 minutes The original Solaris - Went to see it with the wife and we both agreed never to mention that film again, I really want my life back from that film.

+1 on Ultraviolet. I actually FELL ASLEEP.
Johnny Mnemonic. Sucked.
Shrek 2. I really liked Shrek 1 so I expected Shrek 2 to be decent. The yelling and bickering turned me off and I turned it off after 20 minutes.
I Am Legend. I didn't walk out of the theater, but I wanted to. Who gives a crap about a movie that kills off the characters you care about, and presents unrealistic, stupid premises such as zombies with speed that would make The Flash [TM] look like he's standing in quicksand? Another example - a scientist who is too stupid to realize that an obvious trap has been set for him? I mean, DUH! Yeah he's a little out of it from being alone for 3 years, but gimme a break! And the zombies, as he reports in his video journal, have abandoned all human behaviors, yet they're clever enough to set a trap for him? I yelled "YEEAARRGGH" at that one. I nearly walked out.
Two for the money. This was just painful to watch.
Chronicles of Ridd ick. (Just kidding! That movie ROCKS! )

Movies that I've turned off half way through on tv are too many to mention, but I've walked out of a movie theater after paying good money to be entertained on two occasions:
King Kong 2: I watched the '76 King Kong on the theaters as a little kid and it was one of the first tapes my parents bought when they got a VCR, so I basically grew up with it. It was somewhat creepy, gritty and I loved it. Come the '80s, Hollywood deployed this massive turd of a sequel where a revived Mickey Kong meets Minnie Kong in a heartwarming scene where they lovingly and playfully fling poo at each other. Which of course comes out as two guys in gorilla suits jumping around a cheap looking set trying to appear cute while they cuddle on top of crushed fake looking trees. I run to the door.
When a Man Loves a Woman: Another of those Hollywood movies made around a lame popular song. Andy Garcia meets Meg Ryan, they fall in love, marry, are very happy together and then, whoopsie, Meg Ryan wakes up one morning to find herself turned into an alcoholic who hides Vodka bottles in the laundry. Just because. Lots of pointless arbitrary drama ensues and even the gf agrees to get the hell out of there pronto.

I second whoever said Munich. Unfortunately, I HAD to watch it all the way through. Saw it at the cinema with some sensitive Jewish friends, it would have been too mortifying to walk out.
Never thought I could be so bored in a complex psychological thriller involving terrorists and government licensed hit-men. It played like some strange cross between a National Geographic documentary and cheap heart-string propaganda. ------

Edited by: kessah on 04/04/2008 19:38:31 Wow i cant believe some of these film people have listed as not good or boring.
12 angry men 1957 version is a fantastic film. - ive only watched this version, my dad told me to watch it and i was greatly impressed.
The Good shephard was absoulutly fantastic imho, best film in along time for me, but you kinda got to be into those types of films.
Pans labaryth is meh to me. was ok not that special tbh at all.
Borat is well its ment to be taken with a pinch of salt, not for stupid people really, but its taken the complete wrong way as the Kazakstan government complained about it. It was poking fun at the state in which 'some' parts of the US has boiled down to. Its a big place the US so i would never brand them all as anything, but there are groups of people and societies so out of the way/touch of the rest of the world it just creates that sort of affect. Again though its a big country so its not a shock to me.
Films i could never get through...
Closer - that film bitterly offended me tbh and i walked out midway leaving gf at the time in there. Cant really put my finger on what, perhaps the utterly over the top drama, the way the characters in the film were (selfish and ugly people) and the amount of swearing and use of severly explicit sexual words where none was needed, just felt unrealistic i guess.
Crouhing tiger hidden dragon Flying people for no reason, i understand its japanese and 'beautiful' to some, but im not a fan of japanese cinema or manga at all (well some is good). Make no sence to me - like my films to be realistic or science fiction based so can be explained by science and maths, magic and random flying *shrugs* just dun like it.
Requiem for a Dream Not because its a bad film, but someone told me that some ****** addict has his arms aputated, then the first 5mins of the film with this son being a horrible person to his mother, just hit me hard enough in those 5mins to get the idea of what the film was going to be about. Havnt had the nerve to go back to it.
