Eiffel tower is in the bottom left. Should give you an idea of scale.

They say a Rifter frigate is about the size of a 747 which can give you an idea what being next to a Titan would be like

Bottom left. Its really small...
Try viewing the image at normal size, not at the zoomed out version your browser is probably showing you.

Hmm, there is a problem though, I once undocked from a station in a rifter and idled for a few minutes, at the undocking point it was a corpse, it was a 1/4 of my rifter, so does KFC and MCDonals finally broke the genetic boundries and increased our weight to several tons?
Anyways I wish there was a way in eve to increase how big we perceive the ships.

Do a show info on a corpse
The best idea I ever got of the scale of ships in EVE was in my newb days. I had just lost my ship and was flying through empire in my pod to get a new one, and for one of the jumps I was in warp with a Dominix, the thing was GIGANTIC. Gave me a very, very good idea of the scale of ships in EVE. Also, another time I was helping a friend with questionable security rating move one of his ships out of empire. I ejected out of his Macharial and ended up below it, it was like a scene from Independence Day with it slowly gliding away and aligning for warp above me....very awe inspiring to see all 1200m of that thing glide over you from 50m away. -------------------------------------------

Well, if you want to zoom in (a lot), try holding down left click and then right-click dragging in space. As for the corpses, perhaps they expand in vaccuum before freezing solid? My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

It was probably just floating right in front of the camera, giving a false perspective.

I try to see that what people say how big the ships are compared to earth structures, but i just do not see it.
Compared to X3, i do have some kind of feeling that the structures you are able to dock in are huge, or how humongous the industrial ships are when u fly past it in that noob ship u get in that game.
Undocking with my apocalypse, and seeing it with it surroundings, i get the feeling it can fit in my hand.. I guess there is just not enough detail.
But then again, if they would put in more detail, vertices and polygons, i guess a 50 vs 50 would kill ur machine.. (zoom out for decreased LOD)
In all, i dont get the feeling i am operating a huge vessel. More something car sized. I hope ambulation can bring some change in that tbh.

It is just a matter of perception. Try this some time: Find an out of the way place, make a SS, eject from your ship and spend some time comparing your pod to the ship. Even a shuttle is huge compared to the pod. -=^=-

I do fly around in my pod regularly Be it because i got shot down, or move quickly to another station close by to get to a ship, nothing beats the pod on close range!! Then sometimes i find myself orbiting a corpy or playing bumps with him. Still not much of a feeling that the ship is as huge as peeps claim to be.. (30 times larger then the Eiffel tower)

Exactly. It's in the bottom left corner.
As far as I remember, a Thanatos is about the length of 7 modern day Nimitz Class Supercarriers. A Leviathan is around the size of Manhattan.

Thats because your goo-filled egg is 5m from tip to tip itself. Fairly roomy for just a nekkid person, some wires and blue goo.

a shuttle is 1600 tonnes. a maxxed out 747 for contrast is 440 tonnes. 1600 tonnes is about the size of a modern patrol frigate and eve shuttles are tiny in game. a small eve battleship is at least ten percent bigger than the largest modern aircraft carriers.

THIS has all the ships labeled with their length in meters.
Interestingly enough, the titanic was about 262 meters.
So the Thorax is basically something the size of the titanic, spewing antimatter at you. Scary. __________________________________

OR ::shock:: things are not shown in their "correct" scale, so that we can actually seem them.

So, the Ragnarok is the longest ship at 18 km long? Awesome. I'm sure the Erebus beats it in weight though. ---- In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Addams |

Edited by: Yosarian on 04/04/2008 19:14:58 Edited by: Yosarian on 04/04/2008 19:11:13 The United States Navy Carrier Enterprise is 1123 feet long (335 meters) and weighs 80,000 metric tons. It has a crew of 3,350 and an air wing of 2,480. It carries 85 aircraft.
A Typhoon Minmatar battleship weighs 100,000 tons, so 25% more.
For a sense of scale, here is the Enterprise...
Enterprise aircraft carrier
A Rokh weighs 120k tons, and a Raven 110k tons. So the Eve battleships are about 20 to 40% heavier (larger..) than the largest of today's aircraft carriers. They are slightly less than the largest of today's container ships.

In historical perspective, the Dread was not much bigger than a BS. It was just armed to the teeth. As far as I can tell though, scales were based on the Naval counterparts. Along side my pod though, I can look at a noob ship or a shuttle and ask, how am I going to stuff that thing in there? Of course if the pod were so small you couldn't see it or the Titan was so big you couldn't see anything else, people would have issue with that as well. So I use my imagination. |

IIRC there's nobody else in a frig with you, so the electronics and equipment and such can fit "around" the pod. Larger ships have crews but are, well, larger. ------------------------------------------------- Mac Graphics Performance Guide <3 my Drones |

I think if everything was real size you wouldn't be able to see anything when 2-3 battleships were parked outside the station tbh.
Also, I wish titans were bigger :) these things are supposed to shift the tides on planets and cause floods and stuff...
