Now that eve is nearing 5 years old, i'm guessing alot of vets are in the 60 mil skillpoints or above margin and infact beginning to run out of skills they would like to train.
Personally i'm at 72 mil skillpoints now (and know that many people have above this) and for the past few months have been training any random skill to be honest because there are none left for me that will make any difference. I like to fly gallente and amarr battleships, hacs, command ships, capital ships etc and for all those am already at level 5 skills.
Will most likely never happen, but wondering what other players will think of adding further levels in skills, up to level 7 or 8 perhaps. With these 2 levels each offering just a 1% increase in that skill for example. 1% isn't going to make much difference and doesn't create that much more of a gap between noobs and vets (which i'm sure the newer players would complain about) but at least does give the older players a way to specialize further into their favourite ships for example beyond what is currently available.
Awaiting flames ...

No, we dont need additional levels, ,like leel 6 to a skill. This will increase the gap between new and older players.
In general, there are no lack of skills to train. With my plan to get my character the way "I want it" it will take med ADDITIONAL!! 7 years to complete! And I have been around allready for soon 3 years, anf allready got 38 mil SP.
If anything, we need MORE SKILLS! MORE DIVERSITY! Maybe we will see some new cool features coming with Ambulation???

What is the flame for? There can be more advanced levels like suggested without giving older players too much advantage . There also can be new skill trees added for everybody in the future as more content added. More skills, more variety, are never bad as long as their affects calculated well. Its important to calculate it carefully before hand because if unbalancing mistakes are made, fixing them after people invest time into those skills become very difficult. In any case, if implemented right, your request is not unreasonable.

An additonal 1% per level, so 2% overall isn't making much more of a gap is it. Note i also didn't say that they're aren't skills i could train, i said skills i want to train to further specialize in my favourite ships and gunnery etc.

Edited by: Ambien Torca on 05/04/2008 16:51:14 Sounds like it¦s time for you to branch out. You¦ve reached pinnacle in skills trained and now it¦s up to actually learning how to use those ships to best of your ability. In fact I¦ll say stop worrying about new skills and play the game. That¦s what vets always say to new players in skill threads...

This. Just because you reached your skills 'goal', doesn't mean the game ends here for you. I'm sure there's plenty of ship-, weapon- and specialisation-categories left untouched on that skill-report of yours, maybe ones you might even like.

I understand where he is coming from though. Personally, I do not want to go for Capital ships, and in less than 6 months I will specialized in my favorite races' HACS and Commands, and then what?

Edited by: Toadboy on 05/04/2008 18:23:46 I have 62 SP plus and I like to build stuff; So almost everytime I try to build something I find that I need to either train a skill higher (lvl 5) or purchase a new skill to get the job done.. SO I think the lvl 5 max skill is just fine the way it is..

Obviously you aren't specialized in industry then, because 62 mil is easily enough.

No. Just no. There is a long enough grace period for new players to catch up and they'll never ever catch up in versatility. I'm also sure Ambulation will come with a slew of indoor skills you can enjoy. ---------------------------------------------------------- Posting And You Disclaimer: This is a meta-game alt for meta-game discussions. |

I think the problem here is that your focus is too narrow, not that there is not enough to train.
Though I would actually like some more specialization skills, like for specific ships or even weapons.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

This too. I like to entertain my wildest dreams on EVEMon and can easily cover 6 years. ---------------------------------------------------------- Posting And You Disclaimer: This is a meta-game alt for meta-game discussions. |

Personally I wouldn't want skills going past 5, though furthering the skill tree would be nice.
I'm pretty nicely specialized, just started setting in on spec skills to 5. What I would like to see is advanced spec skills, that give a minor boost to the module in question, e.g. Advanced Medium Blaster Specilization, pre-req med blaster spec 5, would give something like 2% bonus to medium blaster tracking, where adv rail spec would give 2% bonus to optimal range. Advanced drone specs giving velocity bonus, projectiles getting falloff and tracking, etc.
Nice little somethin somethin for those of us that cringe at the thought of having to fly a capital

Na in the beginning I concentrated on getting my fighting skills and spaceship commands skills up, but fighting and losing ships starts to get old, so I got more interested in building T2 items; hence additional skills are needed..

There are plenty of things still to train once you get to 70m+, even if you don't go for cap ships. You can nerf-proof yourself by being specialised for a range of different races for example. All relevant skills for everything you fly should be at 5, and that takes time.
I personally want to see more useful charisma based skills to specialise in for those of us who ****ed-up our original chars in 2003 but have stuck with them. Command-ship style capitals would be nice.
