When the server went down tonight and kicked me off, I was in the middle of fighting another NPC ship. Since we're given absolutely NO time to find a safe location during combat, I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem and if I can expect that my ship will be gone by the time I log back in? If it is...F*** this game! |

Sure, I got a message. And apparently 30 seconds is enough time to warp to a safe location. *sigh* |

You usually get something like 30, 15, 10 and 5 minutes before (where the 5 minute says they're going down "now"). I usually log when it's less than 5 minutes left to be sure.

I don't know how I wouldn't have seen that. It seems logical to me that if I'm getting the boot, so should the NPC that's shooting my ship. |

Typically what happens is that when you go off line in space, your ship attempts an emergency warp to a random location in the next grid, usually about 1 AU away. However if your ship is sucessfully warp jammed, you will not get away. Also, if you were nearly dead to begin with, the NPC's might be sucessfull in wasting your ship before it goes into a warp tunnel. So your pod will get away, but it won't be wrapped in anything.
Most of the time though, you should get away. Just cross your fingers when you log back on.
*edit* Oh yeah, forgot to mention, when you log back on, you are going to be mid warp back to your original location. Thats to stop people from logging off and on to escape being killed as they will be going back to the same place and no doubt the same danger when they log back, so if you are not ready to fight or need a repair, get ready to warp away agin. ------

Ah, thanks. I was not close to dead. I was not warp jammed (at least not at the time) so hopefully all is well. Thanks for the info! |

Yeah, someone royally screwed up this one. I think it was an unexceptional mistake though that hopefully won't repeat itself (this has been the first time as far as I know).
