I have been trying to look for a ice field in empire to do some quick mining for blue ice (think thats the one i want)
I asked in help channel and they directed me to a nice site where i put in search critera and it gives me the destiations.
However either it is very out of date or something wrong with it. All the ones i have been to that say ice field have been empty. There are apparantly 9 in verge vendor of which one is 0.2 sec the rest are 0.5 and above (which is what im looking for) i have so far visited 6 of those systems and can find no record of a ice belt in the system.
Now either they are all depleted (read something about them no longer infinite) or the site is directing me wrong?
So does anyone know of where i would go in high sec to mine some blue ice and a website thats upto date incase that one isnt.
Thanks for any help and advice before hand.

Follow the screams of the people suicide-ganked by Jihadswarmist goons, and you'll find the highsec ice belt systems. Checking their killboard for mackinaw kills and looking at system name where the kill happened will do fine too.

Haha, nice.
Find which faction is associated with Blue Ice (I know its not Amarr or Caldari, so its either Minnie or Gallente). Identify where you would LIKE there to be ice, and open up your map and start checking systems. You don't have to *go* there, just check the orbital bodies tab on the info page and see if there are any ice fields. Ice is very common and I would imagine you will find ice within 3-5 jumps of where you start looking.
I highly recommend making sure the system has a station before you move there though; there are some systems that have no station and you would have to move the ice out on your own.

All Ice belts were moved to low sec to "help" ice miners into more risk

Here you go.

Just remember all ice belts have been removed from systems with sec status .8 and up. Highest sec ice belts are in .7s.

Not accurate...several regions in Gallente space with hi-sec ice fields.

Deninard has a nice blue ice field, and is 0.7 sec. Ignebaener (sp?) is also blue ice, and 0.5 sec.
Suicide attacks are common in ice fields these days, so we have switched from Macks to tanked Hulks, and have survived the attacks thus far. Staying in 0.7 (vs. 0.5) means a faster Concorde response time, and a better chance of survival.
But be aware that ship losses are common these days.

Something I would like to know - can you find Ice belts through Exploration?
If not, why not? :)

CCP removed all icefields from highsec systems .8 and above a quite some time ago. Many online tools do not reflect this change. Restrict your searches to .7 and below and you will find them.

i don't find the response time any different, myself. forum trash more like. uhm, grismar's explorer is great for finding nearby ice fields of gallente sovereignty. just remember to set it to find fields in systems less than 0.8 sec status.

Then all you need to do is find a Gallente system in highsec with an Ice field. There are plenty of them and Ombey's maps will be up to date.
Thing about Ice is, unless prices have gone up a lot, consider just buying what you need off of ratting or ore mining.

One thing about those .7 fields.
They don't refresh the asteroids in them every day like they do in .9.
Common days are Mondays and Friday's but it depends specifically on the field.
When I asked about how you'd know when they refreshed the GM said you just had to go look every day.
Don't know if there's anything in those guides about refresh days - but it is common place for these things to get mined out - so if you want some - better to be there the first day.

I like people like you. You are why I can sell my ice for upwards of 150k a piece

I've been to a few and the problem hasn't been them mined out (most were not even close) but the horrendous lag from a gajillion secure cans anchored every 5km from each other for almost the full 150km stretch.
It also seems to be drastically less profitable than mining hi-sec ore. The longer cycle time does make it better for AFK mining though.

The OP wanted to harvest ice, not mine ore [note to OP, one harvests ice, not mines ice]. So the concerns above are not applicable since ice, for all intent, cannot be "mined out". ---------------- Mutatis Mutandis |

To avoid getting suicide ganked in highsec belts when mining, get an alt to shoot your mining ship, concord will rush in and pwn the said alt.
Concord will stay in the belt while you blast away at the roids, severly cutting chances of suiciders ganking your expensive mining boat.

I like people like you. They mean people like me don't have to get a Mack and sit untanked in Ice Fields to fuel POSes.
Now excuse me while I go recheck the ISK/hour rates on ice at 150k a piece, I think the last time I actually checked the numbers they may have been at 45k a chunk.
Lets see, maxed out Mack with T2 Upgrades, a mindlinked gang leader , gang links and a 5% Yeti gets a cycle time of 214 seconds, or 67 cubes an hour. 10m an hour per Mack. Not bad money. It would still drive me up the wall (and I spent a sizable amount of time as a younger player mining).
I think the last time I actually ran numbers on Ice it was a Retriever vs. another Retriever, and prices were something like 45k a cube. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
