Whenever I try to start EVE, it gets to the EULA and locks up. Sometimes, I can scroll to the bottom and even click accept. I've never been able to start entering my login info, though. If I try to run it through the official Linux client, the EULA box is off-center, and I have to scroll through it with the mouse wheel, but the Windows client through Wine is perfectly centered and everything, but it doesn't do much better.
I have a theory as to why exactly this might be happening. My ~/.wine/c_drive folder doesn't contain a Documents and Settings folder, so it doesn't have a user folder. The ~/.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive folder has one, but it only contains the All Users and Local Settings folder, so it lacks a user folder, too. My theory is that EVE tries to go find a user folder, and being designed to run under Windows, is completely unprepared to handle an utter lack of one.
This theory is further reinforced by the fact that I tried to copy over my prefs.ini from my Windows partition. I put it in the "Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings" folder for the All Users and Local Settings folders for the Linux client. I also tried to guess at what user name it would be looking for in the Windows under Wine client and added mikey (my Ubuntu login), Mikey, and All Users, then placed the prefs.ini accordingly. In all instances, the EULA still appeared, and despite having set audio=0, I could still hear sound, so I assume it failed to find it.
My hardware is as follows: (copied from the Linux client configuration) cpu: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz cpu_ghz: 3.0 memory: 757 videocard_manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. videocard_type: ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series videocard_ram: 128 agp_aperture_size: N/A videocard_driver_version: 2.1.7412 Release soundcard: Audigy SE [SB0570] at 0xb000 irq 1 soundcard_driver: ALSA Version 1.0.14 machine_bitness: 32 kernel: 2.6.22-14-generic x_version: Xorg Version 1.3.0 distro: Debian lenny/sid GUI version: eve-000066
