As my personal view, it goes like this:
PVP Alliances:
1. BoB - skill/persistence/resistance
2. RA - skill/Russian stubbornness 
3. AAA/INSRG/MM/TRI/GOONS/MC/PL (in no order - all have goods and bads)
PVP Corps (top 3 in no order - all have goods and bads)
Celestial Apoc/Outbreak/BoB corps
As Eve is large, there may be others which I do not know and can issue an opinion. Apologies for my ignorance. |

To me, best = tactics, not numbers. For example, what corporation could go up against a BoB fleet outmanned 3-1 and expect to win?
Stain Empire (particularly the Xenobytes) has very good tactics
As does Triumverate
Obviously biased, but I would also put eXceed in that group.
MC has some great pilots I highly respect, although they've been more focused on cap warfare, which I want no part of.
And frankly there aren't many corporations better at running gate camps then those damn muffins.  |

In no particular order:
Top 5 Corps:
CELES (Before I joined them  )
System-Lords/Murder of Crows/Armoured Assassins (together, back in the old days)
The Littlest Hobos (Lilan for the win, and BD and Kara in a 3-way sandwich on the weekends)
Magnificent Beavers/Mercenary Forces (together, don't split up!)
Veto
Top 5 Alliances:
MC
BoB
EXM
ENIGMA
INSRG
Note that my rankings are based 90% on the amount of fun I've had in these corps/alliances, hence ENIGMA, though it wasn't a very strong PvP alliance, damn... Those were the good days! And I hate to comment on my own corp/alliance in terms of skills, but from my experiences in and with the above corps, these are the most fun to be a part of. In particular, EXM, CELES, CRWS (plus K3), and WEDIE... It's about who you play with, not what you do.
But I had to mention BoB, MC, and Veto, due to the vast amounts of respect I hold for these three entities!

They also have an extremely strong industrial backbone that practically provide their PVPers with free ships and modules. Even t2 invention stuff is sold at buildcost for all their top notch PVPers.
Now, Im not a member of Atlas Alliance myself because I canŠt meet their criterica in pvp-expertice but that shouldnŠt mean that you canŠt apply for them and fly with the best players, in all categories, in this game.

lol!, Just cause all they do is get tons of ratter/miners kills doesnt make them great, they get rolled in real fights just look at RAs/IRCs killboards. Check out how a few weeks ago they lost 1/2 their capital fleet to a pos.

I will probably get shouted at alliance chat for posting here, but I feel I have to pay respect where it's due.
1. AAA
Lots of respect for you guys, you know how to play this game. You come, kill or die trying and then come again. Quality of fights with you is always superb. No log off, no nanocloak camps just plain and fun pew pew.
2. Other russians we get to fight.
Pretty much the same as AAA, very skilled pew pew pilots, but they tend to log off a lot when they don't have upper hand. No love for that. Logoffski are bad, m'kay?
3. Honorable mention: BOB. Like them or hate them, mere fact that they're still alive speaks volumes about them.

Bob are the best tbh, bob are the only ones you can say this is a fact about rather than an opinion since all the other alliances on your top ten list formed together, attacked them, and finally lost.
RA would have been second, and were until recently when Solar Dragons left.
I don't know much about insurgency except what I've heard(which is they should be 3rd or 4th) so not going to say anything about them.
Tri would have been 3rd or 4th(whichever insurg wasn't) until recently when they lost their main pvp corps. Whether or not they can hold their position remains to be seen. They have the potential now to become second quite easily but they also could completely founder.
Goonies just suck as an alliance. K/D ratios are not what make a good alliance. The problems in goons far outweigh their numbers or small victories.
Smash/Roadkill would not have been anywhere near the top 5 a 6 months ago, but they have grown more than any other alliance in the last 6 months after considerable defeats, learned from their mistakes, and to my surprise are on of the most powerful alliances in the game.
So in my list of top 5 best alliances based on recent changes would be.
1. BoB
2. Against All Authorities/Insurgency (tie)
3. Triumvirate
4. Red Alliance
5. Smash/Kill (really just one alliance with multiple leaders of um... various age groups ;))
two best corps are
1. Solar Dragons
2. Black Nova Corp
In my time in eve I have fought side by side as well as against every alliance/corp i have listed here(except for smash/kill which I've only fought with).

Oh and the PvP ppls.
In no particular order.
Alliances
1. AAA - always wanted to see the AAA vrs MC show down, not sure if that'll be possible anymore.
2. RA/RA spin offs - been fighting them since 05, they fight well and bring it, what more can you ask for.
3. BoB - around since FOREVER, took on the entire coalition and still around, probably doing something right.
4. CVA/Providence holders - RP's, crap space, beating back BoB, Coalition, Tri, etc. All 3 of which have said 'respect' can't tell me their not good.
5. Insurgency/Tri - not really sure on this one, with the split ups, and new corps in insurgency not really sure which side is doing which to make this a new and potential powerhouse. They've took on the entire north and are having a blast it seems.
Corps
1. Outbreak - played tag a few times, always good pilots and good tactics, can't believe their not mentioned more.
2. Veto - not sure where they've been, but always had a respect for them.
3. Eiljinher - massacared the spelling on that but they were always a good bunch, not sure where they went, heard up north or west.
4. Burn Eden - their 3 tightly knit corps that work as one, using some of the oldest tactics and showing that they work.
5. Beagle. - I miss them.

Could you imagine Tri, Insurgency, ATF and Destiny merging into an alliance. Look ma, super power #3 is born in a single day  Couldn't resist this one.
