Edited by: Guerrica on 09/04/2008 14:47:18 Is there a guideline for the percentage of courier / kill missions based upon agent type? I know there used to be good rules for this, but that has changed I'm told.

I think that this one is the most current.

I'm sorry to say that I think the Players Guide breakdown is out of date. And I mean - really - out of date, like long before the original mining missions were removed.
Since I don't think there's any official numbers, your best bet is Pwett's data mining project: http://www.starvingpoet.net/?page=Missions * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I've done primarily mining agents, and some astral surveying. I believe the numbers at starvingpoet to be quite off from what I experience in mission running.
The hypothesis that I work off of now is that it depends on the number of possible missions for that agent. The numbers there may be correct for low level mining agents, but quite off for higher level agents. It has been over 50 missions I've done at level 4 mining agent since I've had to decline a mission because it was a combat mission - that does not match at all with a 26% mining mission from a mining agent.
It might shed more light on the question if people collecting future data include: * Mission name * Mission type (chain, combat, trade, courier, mine) * Division * Level * Corp * Faction
One of the questions though is how do you count chain missions that include several different mission types in them. New Frontiers has a combat/mining mission, kill, courier, kill, kill, courier, kill. Does this get counted as 7 missions - one of each type? And that you always get the next mission in the chain - does that mess up the count?

Edited by: Pwett on 09/04/2008 19:23:52 I didn't reset the statistics from before the mining agent changes. and some missions where you mine are listed as 'Encounters' in the journal.
It's all player input, I'm not professing to being accurate, I'm just showing you what other people are getting, when they can be bothered to log them.
The rule for logging missions is you log every mission that gets offered to you, whether you decline them or not. If you get the Recon chain, and you only run the first two, you still log all three, because you've been offered all three. If you only run the first and decline the second, you log 1 and 2 because you never were offered the 3rd. _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

Would it be possible to go back and do this retroactively? The mining missions might be throwing a lot of numbers way off. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

That guide is not very far out of date. At the oldest it was updated with the release of Revelations: notice the Expeditions tab on the Journal screen shot. But from what I remember it took them almost a year after Revelations to update the player guide pages, so I expect that guide is no more than a few months old.
If you want the original division break down, try this site or this site, but I know those ones are out of date, as they have not changed since I first looked at them almost 3 years ago.

It would be possible, but we never had much mining missions to begin with. As more people run and log missions, it will sort itself out naturally. _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

So, how does one contribute to it?
It would also be interesting (if you have the data) to see if certain missions are more common from certain corps or certain regions and a break down by level. Does Astrosurveying level 2 agent have a signficantly different breakdown of mission types compared to a Astrosurveying level 4 agent?

Go to starvingpoet.net in-game and click the mission journal link - there will be a faq there if you don't have any agents set-up.
And for the super-detailed breakdowns, I have all that sort of data available for all the tracked missions, so it would indeed be possible. I'd just need to, you know, make the queries :) _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony
