what ship fit do you use for
a.exploration b.running the site once you have scanned it down
at the moment i am running a really bad fit heron for the exploration, but the running of the sites i'd like maybe something that can deal with the rats, and then do the salvaging in one go........is there such a ship/fit suitable for this
thanks |

a. For exploration I use pimp fit covert ops ships with a character whose scanning skills are all level-5 and who has scanning implants. This is a HUGE time saver.
b. There are a couple of battleships that get range bonuses to tractor beams. I think the Kronos is one of them. The Golem might be another but you'll have to look. For running most anomalies in eve a Dominix is a perfectly adequate ship. If you used a Navy Domi you'd be able to make good dps (assuming you have drone skills) and you'll have a couple of high-slots over so you can salvage as you go. If you're dual boxing, use two. They're awesome in pairs.

Imicus is the better T1 scanning frigate because it can field 3 Hobgoblins. This will allow you to run radar and mag sites without switching into a dps ship. Time counts here because others may loot the cans before you are back :).
Covops are the fastest scanners but either you need an alt doing the combat or you need to switch ships to run the sites.
Also depends where you are exploring high sec/ lowsec? In lowsec you need something fast and cheap for the beginning. Fast enough to get away when scanned, cheap enough that it does not break the piggy bank when popped during the first runs. Here a Vexor is very popular. Search exploration fit, highesec exploration or lowsec exploration fit in google to find other good threads in this forum.

You haven't said where you would be using this ship. I use a Tengu for exploration work. Simply because it allows me a little more freedom. With the subs you no longer have to change out ships. Since I have no idea of you situation its a little difficult to provide you more information. It would we helpful to know your level of skills, where you were planing on doing your exploration work High sec, low sec, null?
Good luck. |

Depends on what you want to find, for Radar and Mag sites, use something that can run those sites right away, usualy there is a lot of competition, Imicus was already named.
In the end the Tengu and the Legion ar probablly the best all in one explorer vessels
though thats when you leave high sec.
I'd advice you to find a nice stratigical map of EVE find a secluded low sec system and set up a based there. lass competition better profit.
train for Covert-ops recon ship,
Racial Battlecruiser (get it in at a server low time)'
And for a cloaky blockade runner to move your loot in and out of low sec.
from their go for stratigic cruisers.

my hisec very efective ship is hawk (caldari space) or retribution(amarr space) Assault frigs. yes they're fun and fast.
they fit trough the gates of 1/10 plexes. and those c-type small shield boosters are so worth it. they also can do all the static sites you may find that also have some good looties sometimes. hawk with somewhat higher skills can do 4/10 plexes and the notorious sansha vigil goes down to retribution... it really does...
they're tough little cookies those assault frigs.... havnt tried them yet after the buff.
EDIT: p.s. Looting salvaging in hisec is not much worth compared to why you're running these... its shiny things that completely dwarf the other income in comparison. or you can run them for an hour or 1.5 is relatively one area. bookmark the sites and then get the noctis and just loot and slava the wrecks if sites despawn |

Wow, no love for the Drake? I've used that as an exploration vessel. 5-6 heavy missile launchers, probe launcher, salvager, and a tractor beam if only 5 missile launchers. Add in 5 light hobgoblins or warrior 2s.
I keep a code breaker on, analyzer in the cargo hold.
You should be able to handle almost any high sec site. Doc up and switch the codebreaker when needed. The only exceptions are DED 3/10. Of those, the drone one has horrible drops and ia not worth it. I never saw a guerista 3/10.
Plus, you can also handle class 1 wormhole sites if you wish. |

With scanning rigs, a 6% implant, sisters gear and level 4 skills, there is no need to have a separate probing ship. All this would serve to do is allow someone else to take the site you probed down while you swap ships.
So pick a combat ship you like, slap a sisters probe launcher on it, tank for the rats you'll be facing and you're good to go. Add salvager/codebreaker/analyzer as necessary (I don't waste my time with these but to each his own). |

I find a Tengu with a Locus Analyzer sub works best.
For highsec you can fit it to perform all tasks easily. Simply save a Tengu scanning fit, and your typical mission fit, when you get an escalation that requires more dps/tank you can just dock up and switch in a few seconds and continue on your way. |

I used a gila till I could fly/afford a tengu. Gila can get a nice passive tank and still have space for prop mod and analyzer/ codebreaker. Use the highs for probe/tractor/salvager and missile launcher to get aggro fit cloak if you going to ls/0.0. Cruiser hull works best in HS as some sites won't allow anything bigger in. |

I'll tell you what my progression has been.
1) Highsec - used an imicus to scan and run sites, then moved onto an ishkur then ... heh sorta stopped doing stuff in highsec.
2) Lowsec - First: used a worm for scanning and running sites, surprising little ship. Then I moved onto using a scanning frig and a myrm for running sites (Myrm is a great little combat boat, and can still just about squeeze by tricky spots). Then moved onto using the Ishkur which I dearly love... now I just use a proteus.
3) Nullsec - I used an ishkur here at first too, very interesting... but... Proteus it is now.
