hi all, i have been experimenting with EFT on a passive shield tanked hurricane
high slots: 6 x 650mm named medium artillery 2 x heavy missile launcher 2
mid slots: 2 x invulnerability field 2 2 x large shield extender 2
low slots: 5 x shield power relay 2 1 x power diagnostic system 2
rigs: 1 x anti EM reinforcer 2 x core defense field extender
max shield: 15909 shield recharge rate: 259 peak recharge: 147.41
resists: EM: 57.1% THERM: 58.6% KIN: 69% EXP: 74.1
you could swap one of the invuls for specific hardeners or amplifiers of cap is a problem.
any ideas or advice on the setup, not sure what its for yet but probably PVE or gate camping.

Easy kill if used in PvP.

Depends what you're flying with. If you're in a mostly battleship gang, I'd call you primary after support and logistics. Easier to kill than a BS or a passive Drake, quick way to reduce some DPS and hearing calls of a ship going down if things could go either way is enough to make a bad FC make mistakes. Really depends who you're flying with and against.
Also, your name starts with an A...
edit: for the fit itself, I'd recommend ACs for PvP over artillery. Oh, and tackling mods unless you have a dedicated tackler. ______

Good point on the 'name starts with an A' there :P
Well, your setup fails sadly. If anything like that try the mwd, 2xLSEII, 1xwarp disruptor/invul speedmods/gyros in lows
With your setup I'd be suprised if a rifter didnt outdamage you and noones going to shoot the rifter first(well... in Theory) =)

You'd have to equip some kinda of web if solo as well or you could get embarassed by a couple frigs.

but in itself isnt it very close to a passive drake tank? possibly with even better dps?

i wouldnt fly it solo unless for use as bait, for situations liek that fitting ACs sounds a gd idea for close kills, but in a gatecamp for popping haulers and small cruisers isnt it good? could it handle sentries?

Even if it is close, in a fleet or even a small gang fight, you're going to go down hard regardless with that much incoming DPS. Also, as an FC, I'm sure as hell not going to primary a Drake until there's nothing left on the field. A Hurricane, on the other hand, has good DPS and is (from what I can tell) probably armour or buffer tanked unless you happen to be close enough for me to see the Invulns on. So until we start chewing your shields, I'm not going to know you're passive shield tanked.
Are you planning on using this for PvE or for solo/small gang work? ______

im not sure i wreckon it would be a good PVE setup, but it could also be gd for solo/small gatecamps in the low sec area my corp inhabits where teh main targets are macro haulers.

You could tank sentrys long enuff to kill a cruiser or hauler. You'll get in trouble with a longer fight though. Thing is you don't have to perma tank them just provide a short term buffer. I'd still fit a disruptor atleast to it or else they'll align warp before you can kill them.

it was more of a search for a gun platform that could deal damage faster than a drake (the advantage of guns over missiles = insta damage) whihc was suitable for the area of low sec where i work in gatecamps against macro miners

Edited by: angelous51 on 09/04/2008 23:50:46 i reckon i could drop one of the extenders for a disruptor and not hurt it too much. Or drop both and fit a disruptor and whatever = web, painter, afterburner

Passive shield tanks typically mean you're just the last one to die in pvp. You can't tackle, you aren't very quick, and the SPRs gimp your cap horribly. Drakes are decent for some pvp when passive tanked because they have a resist bonus, high-recharge rate, and they can't tackle or move very quickly to begin with.

This is nice experiment, but makes Hurricane very-very sad. A hurricane with artilleries and no gyrostabilizers is not pretty - damage is low, and tank is not stellar anyway.
I know its conformism and "in the box" thinking, but Hurricane have always been and still is a boat, doomed to fit autocannons an gyrostabilizers, and go in ganking crap out of everything that dies before he is primaried.
Shieldtank PvP hurricane for buffer. Damcon, 2 LSEs and shield resistance rigs should be all the tank you need. Add speed/agility mods and gyrostabs and fire away.
