Guess its time to stirr up things a bit...
To clarify...I am NOT a PVP alt, I am NOT a pirate, I only have one War going on with my corp at the moment, so you might even call me and my guys carebears.
STILL... i say these super highways need to go... I guess the problem with many carebears defending their SuperHighways with claws and teeth is they actually never ever have seen what eve is without these shortcuts.
Differences in regional markets, chances for RP, the feeling for the Universe to be BIG, all these have been the case before someone thought it is good to have it 2 jumps from New Caldari to Luminaire...
The BEST sollution would be to have a well connected System of Highway gates within EACH empire, but still make it so we need to pass several boarder systems to traverse into another empire... it would be especially nice if there was a neutral boarder system in between, that still got (concord?) sentry guns at the gates, but elsewise would allow battles in the belts and at possible stations just as 0.0
that way we could even carry out our race differences without the need to fear concord .... simply meet at a belt or a station there, and let the war begin...
it wouldnt be too hard to implement this, and it would somehow satisfy both parties (well.. maybe not 100%, but well) you wont have THAT many jumps to go from one empire core to another and, you will be protected by sentries all the way (sorry pirates, this has to be a concession to the people who simply do NOT want to be ganked) still, you got 0.0 seperating the empires, so if an amarr fleet feels like meeting the minnies or caldari feel the urge to blast some gallente, these could meet in these systems and exchange arguments, either at a station or in the belts
now, i fear, all i get for this idea is flaming from both sides (ie. "you're killing the market" "its not necessary to incrase the jump count", .... from carebear camp, and "its not a real sollution, they can still go through unchallenged" "we need to get rid of the sentries" from the pirate camp) but i guess the only true sollution would be some middle ground, where those that wish to PVP may get their chance, and those that wish to go unharmed also can do so... and that makes sense from a RP point of view
