I've just had my mission running tempest blown up in part 4 of a level 4 "Pot and kettle" - basically I warped in, and a whole heap (14) of "outpost defenders" spawned one after the other and proceded to scramble me and overwhelm 4 t2 large shield transfer arrays, an x-large cl-5 and 5 medium shield drones with surprising ease - is this normal for this mission, or did the spawn trigger for them get bugged? |

This is a tricky mission but by no means a hard one. The Outpost defenders spawn in groups, but not as a whole unless you keep shooting the trigger ships which iirc are the recon cruisers.
I find it supprising that you lost a BS with a support ship giving shield transfer to you though. Correct resists?
I normally run this in a Domi with Dual LAR II set up supported if needed by an Oneiros, though the if you work each outpost defender spawn it is not a problem for the Domi. |

like I said, I had just warped in, I had 2x named thermal and 2x named em. The defenders spawned one after another without me firing a shot at anything, roughly 10 seconds apart.
They headed straight for me, and then one of them attacked my support ship, causing both of us to have to warp out. I went back in and landed straight on top of them all, two of them scrambled me, my support ship came along and started transfering shield and launched drones, but there was just nothing I could do - the defenders were on top of me (2.5km) too close to shoot at. I was lucky to get my support ship out in one piece. It just seems odd that they spawned like they did with so much firepower... |

Fit smart bombs for this one, they work a treat, 2 does the job and leaves you plenty of top slots for taking out the other ships. |

I'll have to remember that - this being a smartbomb test and all! Good tip!

I recently went through that one in a broadsword tanking it fine. Not too hard with the right hardeners, though I do seem to recall overloading them |

You need to pop the defenders right when they start to head your way. Waiting is not a good idea.

Ya i almost lost a full t2 tanked dual repping domi in this mission, i had a few scary seconds trying to kill the frigs scramming me (new overview icons are awesome!!). i had to come back with 4xsmartbombs to clear the mission. Each of the frigs was doing about 30-50 dmg per hit, i think the ships might be putting out different damage than is stated in the kill mission survival guide, cause most BS dont do that much dmg in lvl 4's (with proper tank)

Actually, it does seem like they're doing em and thermal - I warped out and back in without my shield hardners at one point, and they took 9000 off my health in one volley... The petition came back yesterday (response within 12 hours?!?! wtg CCP!) as yes there had been a problem and they replaced my ship.
And yes, I only noticed those icons a couple of days ago, but it's a well needed change! ------------------------------------ The EvE online general discussion forum - you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy |

i found doing this part of pot and kettle easier in my myrmidon, i lost a domi on this part of the mission before. warp in and AB away from the group, release hammerheads to take out the webbers/scramblers. get to around 50km and start sniping the cruisers with iridium charges and use the drones. picking the cruisers off 1 by 1. use the same method on the BS's until 2 or 3 are left then AB orbit each BS at 5km using am charges and drones. the BS's couldnt track fast enough to do any serious damage that couldnt be tanked. admittedly this takes a while but it worked for me. btw i am a n00b here with just 3.3mil sp

How you enable the dammed icons? I have found the EWAR section in the overview but don't get the icons, both in classic and premium builds.

EWAR icons are auto enabled, you just need to look for them on your overview. They are small though, so it is easy to miss them.

My other lost a raven to this mission, I got in trouble, warped out, repaired, tried to warp in at range 70 KM, ended up warping in to 0 (yes, I made a BM, warped to 70 km using the BM)...
Next time, more Smart Bombs (1 is not really enough)... it was the start of a very bad weekend, lost 2 ravens and a Drake due to the Warp in at range not working... --------*****--------

Edited by: Xalib Zondo on 15/04/2008 18:28:22 There are lots of missions where you try and warp to 100 or whatever, but end up at 0km instead. Way around it is to select warp to any distance, then stop your ship before it does warp. Then warp to your desired distance.
And yes, 2 SB are the way forward, those pesky little drones dont like them very much.
Hamfast, I feel for you, I lost 3 mission running Domi's rigged with T2 fits in one weekend, it really hurts but time makes it better

thanks for the hint, sorry about your Domi's... thankfully I had the materials to build new ships... I posted this warp-in issue with my other (here) and was told about the Warp-cancel-warp work around... my issue was not with this mission but a Cargo Delivery that until now I have always been able to warp in at range... --------*****--------
