Turning one, thats a milestone. Most alliances if they are going to fail do so in the opening stages. So posting that your one year old is an achievement.
After that everyone should stfu till they are 5
Meaning we have about a year an a half before they all start flooding in again

It seems like recently there has been a major increase with the amount of threads announcing the birthday of corporations and alliances.
Im sorta wondering if anyone else feels the same way. Perhaps it would be better to find another place on the forums for them to go.
I usually just stick with what shows up on the first page, but lately I have been finding myself going to the second page of the thread to read current threads. Perhaps if we got rid of the birthday threads it would clean up CAOD a little bit.
I dont like the stuff on the front pages of news papers, i have a good tool to avoid the dislike........I dont ******* buy the dam things!
Your thread is worse than the spam your are takling about.
Development forum is thata way!

CAOD is a cesspool with literally no useful information. There is not one informative post. It's just a bunch of ****.
CAOD should be limited only to birthday threads, and nothing of value will be lost.

Here's an idea. Ok, probably the best thing about a birthday thread, is it MIGHT help boost morale for your own corp/alliance with a "look how far we've come!" thing. But, this would be far more beneficial on a corp's/alliance's own forum. My own corp's leader did that. And listed a nice long thread of our history over the past year. I liked that ALOT better than one of our leaders going "omfg we can haz bday" on caod.

I don't hate the birthday threads NEAR as much as the super sekrit, edited chatlog-leaking, photoshopped screenie, tinfoil hat 'discussions'/flame(bait), he said/she said smackfests, but that's just me. At least the birthday posts have SOME truth to them, and the birthday itself IS verifiable.
We had our 4th corp. birthday last month and didn't announce it, but after 5 years in this e-cesspool, sometimes it's cool to see old, half forgotten names pop up, read where they're at, what they've been doing, yadayadayada. CAOD? Maybe not the place, but then where?
Personally, I'd prefer a limited access section only available to players with 4 or more years in. Before the whining starts, it won't happen, but it would be nice to avoid some of the misinformation and hysterics of the nubs, and save checking toons in game to see which end they're yakking out of - either that or a start date in the profile so we could filter them
And yes, we do have corp and alliance forums, but sometimes old friends don't stay in the same corp or alliance forever - shocking but true, and nostalgia is fun in moderation. (Note that I am not discussing moderation in this post, no clicky.)
Just saying He said I never listen to him ... (or something like that)

I don't mind birthday threads as long as there is content, like a summary of what the corp did or maybe a fraps video. Its a really easy PR opportunity, but most people fail miserably at it. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

They are only going to stay on the first page if people reply to them and people will only reply to them if they actually care so wtf is the problem exactly? I do wish people would only do it for reaching a real landmark but w/e i dont have to read their thread do i?
