Self invite/broadcast and the self move were appreciated changes to gang/fleet mechanics. More needs to be done:
One of the most cumbersome things in PVP is merging gangs. Everyone has to drop gang in one of the gangs and get into the other one. This greatly hinders PVP because of the time sink in merging the gangs, miscommunication and the 30 sec timer which causes all sorts of problems .
For smaller gangs, this doesn't seem like a big deal. But for people who for example try to merge two separate home defense gangs of 50 people in time to repel a nano-gang or during a 200 person POS siege, merging gangs is a nightmare.
I propose that the gang that INVITES the another gang stays in its current hierarchy structure and the invited gang can be automatically put in a new wing or squads in the original wing if there is room.
Some other options:
Another option is to have the gang that invites the other gang retains the fleet commander and boss, and the invited gang loses fleet commander and boss status. However, the gang otherwise can keep/change their structure and can leave the merged gang at will. The fleet channels of the two original gangs, however, will be merged into one.
There are lots of ways to try to improve separate gang coordination or merging. What are your ideas?

A good idea that would make the game easier on poor FCs 
On the subject of fleets, it would also be nice if we had some kind of visible cue that revealed what bonusses each fleet member could potentially dish out. This could help FCs pick squad/wing commanders faster, so we can get to the shooting part

this would really help the dynamic kind of warefare that's employed in alot of 0.0. Several roaminggangs could meet up and merge when a larger hostile entity is found. An option to split the gang up again would also be useful (mark your wing/squad and select "create new fleet").
