As confusing as that article is, that sentence seems pretty clear.
Ahem.
Well true, but you can make a contract based on the agreed loan amount. SO I don't get ripped off and to protect myself just incase the person I am loaning isk to decides not to repay me back, I will buy there collateral well below market value. So I can sell it and make a profit and it becomes there loss not mine.
That's the only way I will loan Isk out.. Its a no brainier , and your 100% protected.

well i made the loan thinking that they only needed to get by for one week and well accepted the laon then went into contracts and failed the loan .....
accepting the loan gave them the loan money .... and failing the loan made me unable to get the money back
so it's a sad day and after reading all of your comments i suppose it's a loss that i have no choice but to accept
thank you all for your posts ... still very disapointing
the fact that if the loan was a loan and u did use an alt to get all the stuff would make it completely unliable and not pratical ...
lessoned learned ... the hard way to not make any contract except item exchanges
as for the reason i made the contract lets just say i was actively looking for a good corp to join and only found an empty wallet
but if they could think of a system that works, i know of at least one scammer that might go out of business
a drake and a 1965mustang have alot in common, they're cheap but thier fittings can get expensive.

I think you misunderstood my question. The scammer does have a system that works, and I was asking you to describe it.

they said to join thier corp they need a security deposit.... either 200mil or a ship with fitting's that equal the same amount .... so i "loaned" 200mil isk to them thinking i would have a connection to it after the week stasis period..... ahh oh well it's considered a loss and lesson learned about contracts and joining corps that require such needs |

2 very important things you need to understand about eve and what you did.
1st - as long as you keep the contract active it uses up one of their available contract slots. if you loaned it to a corp then they will have 499 left to use , but if it an officer or player then that person is down a contract.
2nd - CCP goes out of its way to encourage scams and loopholes that other players can use against others. If you think what your doing is a "safe" legitimate business practice expect CCP to have already put in a loophole for someone to abuse. |

Making a competent system of lending money to the company shouldn't be that dificult. Just make the system work in this manner: you lend isk the company provides stocks as a colateral if the company fails to give you back the isk you get the agreed amount of stocks.
period.

I'm unsure what the problem is. I mean he may claim it was a loan, and from what I can see it was just a wrong use of the contract system. There was no bug, no exploit. In the end it was user error.
Something that I've had to figure out is that as far as loans go, you just don't do them. It's just not safe, period. Besides, a security deposit of 200m? For what?
The maximum I recommend is 100.00isk just to ensure they aren't an extended trial account.
