I found a small bistot belt, after spending 2 hours to scan it down in a 0.0 system, with a decent real security. This was signature and not anomaly. Finally I got it and wanted to mine, to my supprise, not one of the 15 roids could handle 1 cycle of stripminer. So of course I did bug report this and to my supprise I get this answer:
Quote: Hello , Thank you for your bugreport - ID:XXXXX Title: small - exploration - bisto The problem you have described as an intended game feature, and not a bug. Your bugreport has been filtered.
The BugHunter Team
Report ID: XXXXX Title: small - exploration - bisto
Description: Spent 2 hours to scan down a gravimetric signature in 0.0 system XXXXX. So i found 16 bistot roids and all these roids, didnt last a second cycle of a stripminer? I cant make any other conclusion, that the amount of these roids are not correctly set. This was NOT an anomaly, but a signature. //This is by design as far as I know, as it is a SMALL belt.
So, now I am really wondering, how sad this is actually. I mean its a signature, not even an onboard anomaly, yes the belt is small, but sheez its still 0.0 and even IF i would have used a normal miner II, i barely would grab any ore from any roid at all.
So it feels like this: you spent 2 hours to scan it down, after started with dropping multispectrals, only to find a SAD JOKE, that is described AS INTENDED It feels like: NANANANA, you silly explorer, we tricked you with this belt. NANANA.
I really think: forget the dumb exploration, its not worthwhile at all in this way. Lets be realistic, we talking about 0.0 and its not even safe to bring mining ships to certain location, let alone about the logistics sometimes needed to refine it. So, please change this dumb joke into something, that is at least worthwhile to do.

Is it possible that somebody else probed it down first and mined it completely, and you arrived after it began to respawn? Some normal asteroid belts are rumored to respawn in small increments at downtime daily, and respawn as whole asteroids once or twice a week.

Yup, just another instance of CCP obviously not playing their own programmed features.
After 2 hours of probing and getting a mining barge into position for a measly few million I would tell that bug hunter where to stick his intended feature.

Joe, that is not possible and if its mined empty the plex is gone.

My bet is that it was previously found and mostly mined out. The previous miner left less than one cycle's worth in each asteroid. This could be because of "ha ha, someone else find it and get nothing" or just a general "Its not worth my time to mine less than one cycle". The later is not uncommon in belts that I've seen - you get more isk/time if you point your 1000 m3 laser to a new rock if there is only 100m3 left on that rock.
And so the original poster found it afterwards and mined, and got the less. Not a bug. Not something CCP needs to fix. Just someone finding someone else's scraps.

yea, seriously unbalanced content.
this is definitly not a case for bug hunters.
this is a game design problem / content issue.

Well, the way the RNG works, maybe it was just bad luck. Sometimes when I probe down a level 4 blockade, I go home with 25 alloyed tritanium bars. Other times I leave with 4 or 5.

Exploration is random. Don't like that? Go run missions or mine. Sometimes you will hit the jackpot after half an hour of scanning or less, sometimes you will scan forever for next to nothing. That's how it works.
Intended game mechanic.

just because it's random doesn't mean it has to suck, though :)
too man of those results and I'd be heading to high-sec (if I was a miner)...
if CCP wants their content used and wants to decrease huge conglomerations of people, they need to make the rewards worth people's time. I did a fair bit of exploration in low-sec for a few months... had I not been able to replace the occassional ship I lost to pirates and camps, I'd have stayed in high-sec, w***ing lvl4's in safety...

EVE really doesnt have set goals, its a freeform sandbox - yes a sandbox with kids that occasionally take a dump in it, but a sandbox never the less.

As stated in this thread already Exploration is random. If the OP had spent 2 hours and found a large virgin bistot belt with potentially hundreds of millions of ore then we wouldnt be having this discussion.
There are small unprofitable plex's in 0.0 Ignore them and explore some more until you find the one that is worth your time.

QTF. It's just like that. Random. I had luck and found a Large grav site with Dark Ochre, Crokite and Gneiss in a 0.1 system. Other times I'm not so lucky. That's just the way it goes down.
But I agree to some extent. Less than one cycle is pushing it.

I don't mine so I have no idea if that is a normal size for those roids. It's possible, however, that someone else found it first and intentionally left one cycle in all the roids hoping they'd grow back. Since they don't, they'd still only have one cycle left when you got to them.
Or it could just be that it's a small belt, that's how the game works and you need to quit whining.
