I recently decided to download EVE for a fix to my MMRPG needs. I am a regular EQ, DAOC, etc etc player who also played jumpgate for a short while.
I was just wondering if someone could tell me about the "end game" and hopefully confirm that space control and PvP are important...
Im also a casual roleplayer (in that I like to see the basic racial and history motives used in everyday gaming) ((not into the soap opera dramas)....
Ideally id like to find a mature military-ish PvP oriented corp to add my fledging skills to.
At this point, I'm just trying to determeine which race to pick. Being that I know almost nothing about the game, I wne based on ship appearance and I like the Amarr and the Galletean looks.
Anyhow, if anyone has suggestions on race, or can point me in the direction of a corp that fits what Im looking for, that would be great!
Thanks |

there is no endgame
if you want fun and pvp i would recommend mercenary frigs to all new players, they are nice guys and fight a lot.

Edited by: Rasterino on 20/04/2004 19:45:17 How should I pick a race and "class"?
What is PvP focused around?

depends what u want to do
if you want a fighting race choose minmater or caldari and specialise in the fighting skills.
pvp is focused around being a pirate or anti-pirate or corp-wars

what about those specific races make them combat orietned? I just dont want to regret my race.
What do pirates do in this game.... pay or die?
What do corps fight over?
All sounds exciting!

Corps fight over land... err.. space. They can also take over space stations.
Although most of it seems to be just calling dibs. Corps will camp gates n such to keep unwelcome people out.
Shive (the next big patch) will hopefully allow corps to build guns, refineries, and other things to make owning a piece of 0.0 a bit more meaningfull.

Don't worry about your race, it doesn't matter as much and it doesnt affect which skills you can buy at all.
Mostly you should choose your race on aethetic o philosophical lines. Do find yourself associatign your own mindset with the tribal minmatar, the fiercely free gallente, the calculating caldari, or the commanding amarr?
It has more to do with how you intend to play than what you intend to do.

To what extent to most players stick to their racial backgrounds? Are amarr corps domineering? .... etc
Who makes a good bounty hunter background.

There are some good RP corporation that have a race requierment to join. Check the corporations fourms for more info. Other than that, the really important thing is how you spend your starting atributes. If you're more into production/mining raise your inteligence/memory, for fighting raise perception/willpower. Note that attributes only affect the speed at which you train certain skills, all chars can learn all skills, it just takes a while longer with the 'wrong' set of attributes.

The 0.0 space mega corps/alliances fight over territory and resources. It does not matter what race you are to join these corporations.
The roleplay corps fight over 'principles'. Their wars tend to happen in Empire space. They are racially based.
Then there are the pirate corps who spend their time on the edges of Empire/0.0 space attacking passing pilots and sometimes the 0.0 alliances. It doesn't matter what race you are to be a pirate - you just have to have the right skills and display the required rutlessness.
Then there are bounty hunter/anti-pirate corps who spend their time trying to do good by hunting down and killing the pirates. Again there are no racial restrictions on joining these corps.
As to skills and attributes rea dmy stickied thread at the top of the skills forum!
