Edited by: Caern on 20/04/2004 22:51:14 Edited by: Caern on 20/04/2004 22:39:40 Hello. This message was written as a warning to the playerbase. If you find this information useless, please refrain from flames and negative comments, as they are a waste of time to read. On April 20, a certain corporation got robbed by a certain player. This player was "Aria Kalarian". After joining the corporation, Aria began to communicate with the members and sent out several eve-mails. These eve-mails were about new concepts and policies that she introduced to us. She also spoke of a possible deal on selling our stockpile of ore. After reading her emails (which were quite lengthy) I was impressed by his drive and overall contribution. I though of him to be a valuable asset. Later on that week, we spoke on TeamSpeak, along with several other new members. He seemed like a good guy. He was obviously married, and had kids (I could hear them in the background). While talking, he brought up the subject of roles. He casually asked when our CEO was going to log on, because he requested to have the Director role. He was saying that it was hard for him to coordinate when he couldn't access all of the hangars. I thought that he made a reasonable request, and offered to give him all of the roles, because I, a Director, could not assign him the Director role (only a CEO can). He agreed, and I gave him all of the roles. The next day, when I logged on, I had found that all of my fellow founders were devastated. I opened up my eve-mails and say that the CEO had sent me a message, stating that we had been robbed. I checked the corporation wallet. It was true: Aria had withdrawn all of the money from our account. In addition, she had stolen everything from our hangars, and had closed down all of our offices.
She logged on an hour after I had come on. Here is the chatlog. Enjoy.

To conclude this message, I had made a mistake, a big mistake. I had learned a valuable lesson. This is a realistic game. So please, be careful out there. And thanks to the "Aria Express" for making me a stronger businessman.

never make a director of someone who hasn't been in your corp for a LONG time. Don't assume that since they have a family they are capable of being a human being...even Mr. WW2 ****** had a girl friend and Sadam in Iraq had a whole clan. They might use kids to further thier ends but don't be fooled, evil is as evil does. AND feel bad for the kid :(
Don't be easy, only make RL friends directors and give access to member over 4 months in corp :D...*Waits for the next post where people take advantge*
So sad...can't every one just play the game and not the system...

Edited by: Valan on 21/04/2004 02:20:12 You really have to be a special kind of tosser to actually have the nerve to speak to people on TS that you've robbed.
Oh by the way for all the its only a game people try this. Join a football club, play really well until the final. In the final keep kicking the ball into your own net. Then admit you support the other side. See what happens then!

its a shame people resort to stealing from corps. its not that hard to get that far in this game if you work for it

you gave him director powers after a couple of days, my god what were you thinking, nobody gets a role like that until they have been in our corp for at least 6 months, hell most fdont even have access to more than 1 hangar in the first 3 months, trust nobody. I am sorry for your loss.

You read a thread about corp thieving daily, and still people are stupid enough to give full access in days. I have to agree with the above post, I have no sympathy for what was a case of clear cunning on the part of the thief, and sheer stupidity by the Corp. members.
I don't agree with what was done but, to be so easily fooled into assigning access within a few days to every hanger and the wallet is beyond me. What sort of great plan did he have that warrented this move.
See it as a learning excercise and thank your stars you didn't have a whole lot more to lose.

Edited by: MaVla on 21/04/2004 09:55:16 I just can't wait till the criminal tagging system is implemented. Any noobs need protection while mining? I will just beg for some indies to try and steal the ore, my tachs will tell him 'no' Maybe giving roles can be a bit eased up with the criminal tagging, cuz if you get someone who is a real good director, but you don't give him the role cuz he isn't in the corp long is only impeding the development of your corp. Just tag things as being 'corp owned' and give him the role. This is said assuming it's easy getting stolen stuff back, for example if concord blows someone with contraband up, let the also soonÖ to be implemented Interbus bring it back, or a bit more like real life: impound it and tell the corp where to pick it up.
EDIT cleared up some typos

He, she, what's with so many guys being women in this game? It's a bit wierd if u ask me. Do any real women actually play Eve or are all the women really guys in real life?
Sorry for the thief who raided your corp. It's just like ore thieves in safe space, sod all you can do about it.
It's like making a "friend" who has PE lvl5 and you want a BS built so u give them the mins and the bpc. Will they give u the BS when it's made or keep it? |

Sorry for the confusion. He sounded like a man in TeamSpeak, but his portrait in EVE was a woman. Thanks for the support, and answering the question "when will people learn?", I'd say that it will come in good time.

And she pulled out a big open mouth?
Damn...My imagination would get me banned.
Also, AFAIK, there are RL girls who play EVE, just wondering how many of the RL girls who play male chars, though ;-)

The trouble with blasting this person is that it is probably an alt that will be recycled after this.
The fact that this may be unintented gameplay is adressed in other threads.
Ppl are discussing ways to be able to hold the "main" accountable for actions of alts. They are also discussing the problems that that will give in itself.
A complex matter because even removing alts completely will not solve this problem.
Problem because i cannot imagine CCP ever meant stuff like this to happen. This way a single player can set back a whole bunch of players to point zero.
