Which Amarr ship is king of high lvl missions? I am trying to plan ahead as to which battleship I should invest in, if thats what I need. It seems like all three Amarr battleships have qualities that would be nice in PVE. I am currently in a Harbinger but I don't feel like it will be able to tank missions like lvl4 Blockade. Anyways, just let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Abaddon is uber great.. nice damage and nice tank
if you want to be safe tho... apoc. it has lot more cap so you can run reppers on it longer or even perma while shooting.
+ it has optimal bonus.. so your pulses will hit further :) ---------------------------------- Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

t2 is good as well :)
but paladin takes ages to train for ( battleship 5, adv. weapon upgrade 5 and energy grid upgrade 5)
so for newer players it leaves the t1 BS or faction :)
nightmare is as good as paladin but you need good shield skills for that ---------------------------------- Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Edited by: Gotrek Gurnisson on 14/04/2008 09:59:12 Edited by: Gotrek Gurnisson on 14/04/2008 09:58:02 NOTE: This is written from the persepctive of an Amarr pilot with low(ish) SP who recently made the jump from BC to BS.
The Geddon makes a good starting ship and can usefully solo the lower end L4's if fitted for tank instead of gank. (And with a 125m drone bay you have plenty of drones for taking out any scrambling frigates). Even with all Cap skills to IV my Geddon isnt completely cap stable if I fit megapulses - and I have 3 x CCC rigs + 3 x Cap Rehcarger II fitted to it! Importantly unless you have advanced weapon upgrades to IV the Geddon doesnt have the PG to fit megabeams and still have a decent tank left for mission running!
Typically my Geddon mission runner used:
High: 7 x Megabeam, 1 x Drone Link Augmentor Med: 3 x Cap Recharger II Low: 1 x Large Repper, 4 rat-specific hardeners, 1 x DCU II, 2 x 1600mm Plate Rigs: 3 x CCC Drones: Mix of Med / Light
Admitedly its horribly overtanked (but I still havent lost it!) - but is a nice mission runner and was good enough to get me the extra 150M for an apoc within a weeks worth of farming L4's.
What the Apoc lacks in dps compared to the Geddon it makes up for in survivability as its cap and tank are far superior. I bought my first Apoc a week ago, lost it at the weekend (piloting error), but fortunately managed to have saved enough ISK using the previous Apoc to buy and fit a replacement.
However its definitely not foolproof - I lost my Apoc to 4 Sansha BS + about 30 frigs / cruisers (Worlds collide, Sansha room). Even with rat-specific resists and the best named large repper I couldnt quite keep up with the dps, and had sadly lost my drones to 'drone aggro' earlier in the mission - leaving me stranded when I got scrambled as I was aligning. Lesson learned - only launch drones if scrambled or there arent any ships left to aggro them!
However after a quick play with EFT I am now using the following dual perma-repped fit:
High: 4 x Dual Large Beams, 4 x Megabeam Med: 1 Sensor Booster (Range Script), 3 x Cap Recharger II Low: 2 x Large Repper, 3 x Rat-specific active hardeners, 1 x DCU II, 1 x Cap Power Relay II Rigs: 3 x CCC Drones: 7 Med + 1 Light
NOTE: Im lacking PG atm - and will switch out the Dual Beams for Megabeams as soon as I train Advanced Weapon Upgrades.
This setup has 120km range, and perma-runs all modules (including dual rep) and can easily tank 10+ BS and support vessels on Sansha missions.
I havent the skills or inclination to try my hand with an Abaddon - a quick play in EFT showed my skills are still severely lacking when I try to fit one!
Hope this is of use in helping you get started.

If by amarr you mean pure amarr hull, probably the abaddon. paladin is better for tanking harder, but doesnt finish missions any faster.
If by amarr you mean laser ship, then its the Nightmare. tracking bonus, abaddon damage, shed loads of fitting, its easily one of the best pve boats in the game, maybe second to the torp golem depending on what mission you're doing.

There are two parts to this question:
1) What ship to ultimately aim for as a L4 mission runner? 2) What ship to use whilst I train up for the ship in (1).
Dont get the two confused! Most answers here refer to (1) - the best ship for running L4s assuming you have good enough skills to fly it.
Basically do you want to spend 60M on a Geddon and use it work your way up the L4 ladder, or potentially waste 200M on an Abaddon only to see it blow up on your third mission when you run out of cap and get scrambled?
60M is also a much easier target to aim for whilst running L3's in your Harby!
Your choice

wow arent you misguided: Paladin is the only ship that can fit a full rack of tachyons without any help and unless your one of those people that likes to do missions with pulse lasers you will do tons more dmg with a paladin (8 effective large guns instead of 6 without fitting mods and more room to fit tracking comps while still beeing cap stable).

Is this a joke? Are you a troll whoĘs too smart for the room?
These are the Amarr BSs. Between the 3 pure Amarr BSs there is one skill difference. The Geddon can fly heavy drones. ThatĘs it. There is no planning required.
The Navy Apoc is naturally exactly the same as the tech 1 BSs.
The Paladin requires a few skills that arenĘt necessarily needed for these other ships like, Marauders, Science 5 and Energy Grid Upgrades 5. All the other required skills are helpful for all the other BSs.
The only thing you might want to think about is the Paladin vs Nightmare question. In that case you need to take Caldari BS to no less than 4. And you need to train shield skills. You can do that okay in just a few weeksą not perfect but alright.
If you fit with faction mods the Paladin is better than the Nightmare. If you fit officer or deadspace mods the Nightmare becomes

I flew a geddon at first, but made the switch to Abaddon soon after.
The Armageddon can reach some pretty respectable DPS, and remain somewhat cap stable. The Abaddon can fit a godlike tank and has a bigger alpha-strike.
The biggest drawback of the Abaddon is it's cap. I wouldnt dream of trying a lvl 4 without 3 CCCs equipped. And after that, a cap booster/rechargers are still good ideas.
Since permatanking damage is required to run a lot of missions - the Abaddon is generally regarded as the king of Amarr BS's. |

Nightmare/Paladin. Otherwise if you can't afford/fly one of the above, use the Abaddon with t2 pulse. |
