Why not introduce Jovian ships to the game. Oh and before all your developers rightfully roll your eyes, I know it would have to be phases in a balanced way. This race could be different, perhaps something one can only train after having mastered a good deal of the other races. To fly a Jovian frig you would have to be able to pilot all the t2 frigs from the other races first, for example. A rookie Jovian ship would still have to be on par (maybe slightly superior) with what a experience players are flying, fully t2/faction fitted.
I know this is would be a challenge for development, but think how much excitement it would add to the game. Imagine the thrill of encountering such a ship on an isolated system, or the fresh excitement for veteran players who will now have a new goal to train for. It would definately help player rentention. It would be a refreshing addition to an already spectacularly complex and totally cool game.

I was just thinking we needed a larger disparity between the older players and the newer players. This would fit perfectly. Near invincible ships that only people who have been playing for years can pilot. |

Edited by: Mariana Benn on 14/04/2008 14:54:20 I'm assuming you being sarcastic, Trix. No I wouldn't want to see that, either. The fact of the matter is experienced players have a huge advantage as it is. I have about 24 mil sp, so I'm somewhere in the middle of the pack and I can see both sides of it. The Jovian ships should not be more a lot powerful than well-fitted ships are now. It would just add more diversity to the game.

I cant really see how your suggestion adds diversity into the game. What role the jovian ships should fill? SoloPWNmachines of the class?
No. Sorry, mate. |

I was just brainstorming. Eve's lasted a long time in the mmo world because it's adapted and grown over time. Just wanted to see what others thought. |

The introduction of Jove was has always ben in ccps ten year plan, so many new players around these days it's almost forgotten. Besides, overpowered doesn't come close to describing them as they stand anyway, ott effects ftw |

at the fan fest ccp said that "the jove" would be a patch in itself.
i doubt you will ever be able to start the game as jove, so maybe the jove would only let us get hold of tech that isnt quite as good as the jove navy itself.
am i making any sense?

Still got hopes to get a Jove char one day, only had to wait ~4 years for the titans to actually make it ingame.
I would love to get the option to exchange an "old" char (40+ mil SP) for a brand new Jove char (800k SP) but with better stats than the normal chars and access to the jove ships and skill books. (maybe with an extra skill lvl per every 5mil above the 40mil SP)
