I think I might have the same problem. I was installing eve on my computer and then patched it up.
Before I ran the patch the client window opened where I can log in, but now after the patch the splash window shows up and then disappears again after less than a second and when I check processes nothing shows there either.
I hope someone can answer this...
Thanks

Edited by: Naru Kraurr on 21/04/2004 20:28:25 I rebuilt my system today and installed Eve from the CD. I then patched it with the latest patch and I'm getting the same thing.
I've sent off a logserver file to the support email. I think that's all we can do.
I'm downloading the full version to see if that works.
I guess it helps to know that we're not alone though. I was wondering if it was my system.

Edited by: Tacnafarias on 21/04/2004 20:39:13 I was thinking about trying the reinstall. But the problem happened after I applied the patch so I'll reapply that and report back. EDIT - Hmm, didn't work
I hope I can get this sorted before 12-hour downtime.

Same prob here.
And that's after havin the prob with char not loading, so I cleared my cache........In turnthat gave me the can't connect to whatvere on port 26000 error, so reinstalled and repatched, and here I am unable to run the game.
Great day, eh? if i can't sort it soon I'm gonna call it quits. this is too much like hard work.

If game dies for you right after splash screen (before login) try this. Copy: all "*.py" and "strings.txt" files from EVE/scripts/sys/ to EVE/scripts/common/sys/ directory.
I had to freshly reinstall EVE from CD because auto patcher died. Then I downloaded patch (relese CD -> new) manualy. After that, game started loading and died right after splash screen. In debug log I found out that those Python scripts should be installed in EVE/scripts/common/sys/ directory, witch is btw empty. After copying those files game runs perfectly. "Jebi ga", catchy phrase. |

If you haven't tried it, do a reinstall/repatch using the patch as downloaded rather than autopatch.
I had a number of autopatch problems ages ago so now I always download the patch and patch manually. No problems today.

Cool, congrats.
Oh, stupid idea by the way.
