I think I had this problem before, but I can't remember what I did to fix it. I double click eve, and the picture comes up saying eve then disappears. This is usually where the log in screen comes up, but now the button thingy in the toolbar comes up, and when I press it...I dunno some little box goes from the button to the top left of my screen. Its quite strange, I will try and get some screenshots uploaded if that helps.
Thanks in advance, dec

That usually happens to me if I run Eve with Xfire on. If you have Xfire installed, try to exit it and then launch Eve. Eve doesn't seem to like Xfire at all.

I just downloaded the new patch and when I rebooted the EVE splash screen flashes up there really fast and then nothing.
So I guess I'm going to try a new install...sigh.

Deleting cache usually helps. Also deleting settings folder.

ive got exactly the same problem. I had it after the last patch as well. I cant F**kin remember how i fixed it. Was something to do with deleteing the cache then creating a new shortcut to the exe file and adding "/end/LUA/off" at the end of it or summit.

Edited by: Ajcho Delacroix on 15/04/2008 23:23:59 same problem. after installing patch, eve won't show me login screen anymore.
System specs:
win xp AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.81 GHz 1 GB RAM premium content enabled.
edit:
i put the "/end /LUA:OFF" stuff at the end of that eve linky on my desktop so it looks like this:
D:\EVE\eve.exe /end /LUA:OFF
i now see the login screen

Did you put a set of quotes around the full path. This is required as the path contains spaces?

I've encountered this from time to time, the most common cause is either issues with Xfire, or that there is still an EVE process resident in memory.
Fixing it would mean disabling/exiting Xfire, or opening the task manager ctrl+alt+del -> task manager.. find exefile.exe and select "end process" then "ok".
If this doesn't work for you then it's a new issue, and a Bug Report would be your best bet.
I'll also add that the " /end /LUA:OFF" switch no longer actually does anything.. and using it is no longer supported. Instead you should now find a separate cache for each folder/server combination that you use.
It should look something like this: "c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility"
Inside will be your cache and settings folders for that client/server combination. ____________________________ I break things.

This just worked for me after 45 minutes of rebooting and panic.
Run Eve like you normally would, then select Eve in the taskbar (like the button is pressed). Then, Alt-Enter.
o_O I do not understand but it got me back into the game to change a skill.

I had this problem- in the directory I quoted above, rename the .dat file (to anything, doesn't matter), and then start Eve. Should start OK now... -- 2d EveMaps My blog

this also worked for me.
xfire was turned off, i tried the alt tab switch, also tried to maximize it from the task manager. nothing worked.
and there was not another eve process running.
