Since the patch I've started seeing a strange graphical glitch and was wondering if anyone else has seen it.
When out in space, if I open any "show info" window, the graphics in the "space" area corrupt. That is, it suddenly becomes obvious that you are in a large, textured cube because the "flat" effect of the scene disappears. Also, the cube's textures are corrupted slightly, as are planets.
It's sort of hard to explain but you'll know what I mean if you've seen it.
I've submitted this as a bug report.

I've done a bit more testing and this definitely seems to be specific to the Linux client.
This does not happen when running under Windows, nor when running the Windows client under Wine.

Yes, I noticed this just after the client updated yesterday.
I haven't logged-in a few days, but mine was updated yesterday.
As soon as I logged in i noticed there was something wrong.
The graphics for my Dominex is all messed up and blocky, but the colors were ok. on other ships, they were also more blocky, but the colors were also off.
I noticed it as soon as I logged on. I'll have to take a couple screens. Fearseed Kahn Shadow of Damnation |

I saw the same thing. Seems that the Cedega "update" that was included with the patch messes up the texture rendering. No problems with wine in classic or premium.

Same here. Also: tripped-out portraits (quite interesting though :-)), screwed textures and lower fps (compared to wine) inside stations. No problems with wine (premium install in classic mode). Some examples below (hope that works, preview doesn't show the pictures. If not, click the placeholders):

Same issue here. Running EVE using Cedega. Maybe I should switch to using Wine.

I'm having similar problems, graphs goes fubar and camera freezes. Right mouse and reset camera helps with camera issue though. Also FPS is much lower than pre patch.

Edited by: Dorvan Mahvalinda on 17/04/2008 14:54:21 I've had problems with graphical corruption in the skybox using wine 9.58 for a while now. Usually a few jumps will fix it. One annoying bug however is when all the ship models freeze. The game is still running, numbers change in the overview and what not, just the main view is frozen. Have to dock typically to fix that.

The "skybox goes crazy" happened with me even before patch 1.2. At the time I used wine 0.9.58. Now, with patch 1.2 and wine 0.9.59, it's just a bit more frequent, I'd say.
But definitely present, at least on my setup.

Similar issues here, lots of rainbows on textures, corruption of the textures, player portraits look like something out of a bad tron sequel. Will post screens later if needed.

Same here, though it's crashing on start a lot less so I'll consider it a fair trade.
And my cov ops seems to have herring slots, but that's a old issue....

Another one with the bizarre-o graphical corruption. This patch was fairly high on the UGH factor. I just got really really hot on EVE too. Because the last revision of code was so damn yummy. Change is all around us. |
