rather stay with my current setup until CCP get the 'issues' (whatever they may be that are going to come with it) sorted.
Why oh why would I want to go and shoot myself in the foot if I don't need to? Things are kinda ticking along here fine atm and I've kinda adjusted to living with the last set of discrepencies from the previous patch - for now, at least.
Well, I'll tell you why . . . cos if I don't then I can't get onto the main server - I'll get the incompatible version error message and be shut out of the game to the best of my knowledge.
Where else does an application user get the proverbial door shut in their face if they don't install an update patch AND be denied the option of 'backing out' of (uninstalling) the patch should it prove unsatisfactory?
I no longer worry about ships, modules, skills, weapons or other such features in eve being nerfed cos it seems to me that eve as a game is quietly being nerfed via the patches so I figure if ambulation does eventually arrive then any players left with an account will live to see their toons moving about station in wheelchairs.

Umm, pretty much every other multi-player game out there? HL2, TF2, CoD2/4 to name just a few require that your server/client versions match or you don't play. Any game using PunkBuster requires having the same PB versions on both sides. On the MMORPG front, I've only ever played Guild Wars in addition to EO but that required you install patches and in fact patches are pushed them on you when you connect with no choice but to install.

It seems that the patch whiners here like to compare MMOs to Office Applications.
All user clients need to be the same version, end of story. If you don't like it, send someone your ISK before you quit.
You play EVE and you're still playing EVE regardless of the patches you've installed in the past. I hope you felt as good posting your whine as I did posting this equally useless post.
Nerfs do suck though, I want a carrier, leave drones alone! |
