Since it's never too appropriate (or likely to have effect) on fatalising the inbreds of this planet (and being one myself), I will propose such a claim regardless of this community being keen to like it or not.
Admit video games and mmo's do nothing for you that you coudln't already do before and without them, if not better!
And I will be posting this all over the site, my apologies if it offends the community. |

Let me see. The game allows me to fly an imaginary spaceship in space with a bunch of other people. Sure, I could do the same thing with a roleplaying game like Traveller, but this I can do at any time that is convenient for me, unlike the former.
So there's something that this game does that I can't do elsewhere.
It's hardly a terribly important thing in the grand scheme of things, and if I lost the ability to do it, life would go on just fine. None of that however validates your point either |

well they allow me to meet people from all over europe (or world) and have fun with them, why I could do this in real life its highly impractical. |
