I had issues installing the 1424 patch tonight. First the auto patch util locked up and I was unable to log in to the game. SO I manually downloaded the patch and ran it. The patch ran fine but when I logged in to the game I was unable to view any chats, or my evemail. After waiting about 20 min, and reloging twice I choose to reinstall. Figuring that the failed attempt to patch may have screwed up the game.
After installing from disk, and patching all the way up I attempted to launch the game. I get the game splash and because I am running 98 I get the standard warning about directx 9.0b..... I have it insalled and until this patch the game ran fine. I click yes to this and normally the EULA screen appears, but this time nothing happens. The splash screen goes away and there is no EVE EULA or EVE Login screens.
What could this problem be?

If game dies for you right after splash screen (before login) try this. Copy: all "*.py" files and "strings.txt" file from EVE/scripts/sys/ to EVE/scripts/common/sys/ directory.
I had to freshly reinstall EVE from CD because auto patcher died. Then I downloaded patch (relese CD -> new) manualy. After that, game started loading and died right after splash screen. In debug log I found out that those Python scripts should be installed in EVE/scripts/common/sys/ directory, witch is btw empty. "Jebi ga", catchy phrase. |

Alright I'll give that a shot when I get home. Hopefully it works and hopefully I do not see the same thing happen in game as what I saw before I reinstalled. That being the loss of all ingame communications. I could not see evemail, chats, nothing. But I could easily play the game other wise

Edited by: Mangold on 22/04/2004 17:19:54 Didn't work for me. Sadly. I have the same problem as Dolza.
This is getting extremely annoying. I've had trouble with almost every patch since August. Hopefully I'll manage to sort this out. I'm not satisfied with this.
Edit: After cleaning cache it did work!

Ived tried that and it solved that problem, but now licence wont show up, its black where it should be and you see the EVE logo in the background, and everything is lagging a bit. Anyone got any idea what the problem is? (and all drivers are up to date)

I have the same problem. No chat screens will work, and no agent screens. I ran the auto patch and it did its thing without any glitch. I have sound as well.
I think I have a radeon 9800 pro or something.
The game seems normal, except no chat screens or agent screens. Which just about shuts me down completely.
This really sucks. How do we get help from Eve?

I figured it out. Just erase the contents of the cache folder in on your PC.
You can save the preferences file and put it back. Login, and it will work right again.

Iam having the same problem with the new patch 1424. I can not see myself or anyone in the chat windows and my eve-mail is not working and no corp members list or buddies list is also out and I can not target a players ship but I can target NPCs. if I mouse over a players ship all I see is the name and do not get the option to look at, target or show infor.
and I had a issue with DirectX back in Feb when my hardrive die and I installed 9.0b with win98 se and EVE crash alot. So I reinstalled the O.S. and EVE and just used DirectX 9.0 with win98 se and everything worked fine until now.
well, all I can see is the patch 1424 is not very good, because I have not changed a thing. |

Do what Emeril says, delete your entire cache folder except the preference file. It should solve your problem.

I've had the same problems that you all have been having with this. Only after doing the fixes that have been suggested I no longer get the blank screen I was getting it just loads up the EVE logo then disappears as if it was closed. It's annoying to say the least. If anyone has any suggestions please don't hesitate to say. There's obviously no help from the creators..

Clearing the cache fix my problem, but only the files and not the folders and you may want to keep the "Prefs.ini" so eve is working fine again and thanks for the posts and help guys see you in the skys of eve |
