Mine have been a little erratic of late. Got a 7900GTX and I have the Vsync/triple buff to limit the fps to 60. Before the patch it was always rock solid 60fps.
Since the patch I was playing a mission and I noticed it was getting jumpy. Fps had dropped to 8fps!! My colleage was running at 25fps on a 6800GT a few km away on the same mission. Swapped back to the desktop etc. no difference till I got back to station. I have also noticed a blipping of frames, every second it can go to 90fps then drop to 30fps and then back to 90 over and over. This is with vsync and triple buffering. No odd services or apps in the background. Still using the same drivers. Bit odd. |

"......" is not a valid replacement for commas, periods, semicolons, etc. Poor punctuation makes your post hard to read.
No, I haven't noticed a difference. |

My laptop suffered heavily with Trinity, even with the "Classic" graphics. It dropped down to 8 FPS during traditionally laggy missions and rarely hit more than 15.
Since the last patch I can move my screen around and get 5-10 FPS higher and in uncrowded areas of space hit up to 30. So I'm doing better too \o/ |

Moons presumably caused the FPS to "stutter" for some, after so called "boost" patch. There is a note about FPS and moons in the current patch notes.

Actually I have news for you buddy. You can freely replace periods with ellipses when writing dialogue, or anything else for that matter. It may be a matter if taste if you consider it bad form, but it's entirely valid...
And if you're going to nitpick and say an ellipse must have exactly three periods, I think you're being quite anal.
Anyway I have not noticed much fps improvement but it's hard to say outside of fleet fights.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 18/04/2008 01:45:24 I've noticed an improvement to both the time it takes to log in and the FPS rate. I haven't changed hardware. I've also been in the same system with the same local population both before and after the patch (camping in open 0.0 with no one else in local.) I think the fact that I can notice a change under those conditions means that the situation has probably improved overall. Can't say of course how many it takes to lag out a node now, compared to before. |

Wrong--you can't just replace all punctuation with ellipses. They indicate either words left out of a quote or an intentional pause. They are not a replacement for all other forms of punctuation. The OP was using them to interject a though in the middle of a sentence, which is completely wrong, no matter what kind of William Shatner-esque dialog you're doing; that is done with either "()" or "--". Ellipses are not a "get out of grammar free" card.
Even if you use ellipses to make a sentence "trail off" you still have four periods and a space to indicate that the sentence has ended. You can't just string together complete thoughts, partial sentences, and whatever else you feel like and splice them together with a random number of periods and call it in any way grammatically correct.
Besides, a forum post is not dialog, it is more like a very informal letter. He wasn't quoting someone's speech.
Also, I said nothing about how many periods were involved in an ellipsis, just that the use of punctuation was butchered in the original post. |

I would continue to argue this point with you, because you're wrong... But it's more fun to point out that you're quite terrible with commas and could probably use a lesson or two on their usage. |

You're the one in errorłno style guide that I'm aware of accepts ellipses as anything other than a sentence abbreviation, or indicating that the sentence trails off.
Here's a brief article that gives you all the vital facts about the use and abuse of ellipses: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/the-elusive-ellipsis/

there was definitely a positive change in the graphics department. while my fps is generally limited to 60 fps most of the time, the fps and overall "stability" of the framerate seem to have improved.

When cards are in SLI mode, your computer uses both cards, and sees them as one. EVE doesn't need "special code" to use SLI'd cards. The problem is CCP came out with the "cool graphics" and thought to themselves "oh no1 is going to have the hardware to max these graphics out" so they didn't bother doing research into the 2 big powerhouse companies (nVidia and ATI) to see what their latest cards use (hell even year old cards used), and they released it because ofcoarse everyone will flock to the MMO with the "awesome space ship graphics!!!" - little did they know, their graphics engine does not take advantage of DX10, nor does it do a very good job at taking advantage of DX9. If you look close at the detail, you will see that theres pixilation (BAD Pixilation). I agree the ships are prettier, and the stations, but what about the system background? try playing the game at higher than 1680x1280 and if you look at the space "background" you will see pixilation. Not only that, 100-200 people on your screen = 5FPS, even with 2 8800 Ultras (yes, still one of the fastest cards out on the market).
A pat on the back should be given to CCP for fixing a problem that was long overdue for them to fix. (This issue was around since premium graphics came out, and many people reported it, as well as me)
But are they going to fix their graphics engine to take full advantage of the high end cards? Since EVE is advertised as a "high end graphics MMO". It's one thing to shape a whole bunch of polygons in Maya, It's another to make sure they have good texture and render right in your application - the object designers did a good job on modeling, but texturing lacks big time and it plays a very important part in appearance.
Take this with a grain of salt :) and remember that 1000 "Good Jobs" are negated by 1 "You ****** Up". I wish i had the knowhow to submit a petition and tell you guys at CCP exactly what to do to fix the stuff I posted about. |

Im playing EVE on an old Dell dimension with an NVIDIA 5200 pci card (sad I know) and before the last patch I would be lucky to get more than 4-8 fps in space and 12-15 fps when docked. Now however Im getting 40-60 fps in space and 70-90 fps when docked.
Much love to CCP for whatever they did |

i cant remember after which patch this all started, im thinking it was after the boost patch but i could be wrong so dont hold me to it, but it was a few weeks ago, anyway.
just to point out i use the classic client.
before said patch no issues in any mission (level4 btw), not sure precisely what fps i was getting because i never had cause to look, everything ran smooth.
since the said patch i notice in alot of missions a considerable drop in fps roughly down to around 10-20fps
ive notice only one thing that has changed recently that may provide an answer. since one of the last patches all structures in missions now have a white box to make them more visible.
