Hey all,
So the subject says it all. Basically I am training up for an Ewar frig to be able to use the kitsune in small scale roaming pvp (4-5 players). However, What I am wondering is if they are worth the price and the training time considering I have 7 days left to finish training for one, or should I just use Blackbirds? Seems to me that an ewar frig goes faster, so enemies might have a hard time hitting it. Besides that, another corp mate would be running at least 1 sensor damp in case I dont get a cycle off.
Keep in mind we woulnt be engaging big gangs, since most of the people are relatively new to pvp (and would be fielding frigates) we would be taking on perhaps only a couple of a ships at a time...
So suggestions? Stick to training for the Ewar frig..or just get the BB?

Up to you. They have fewer midslops which means less EWage.
However, EW frigs are fast and a complete ***** to hit, unlike the blackbirds. Basically, there's not much they can do to an EW frig if you fly it right and have gang support, whereas a quick lock -> F1-F8 from their gang will pop a blackbird
Oh, and Ewar frigs have bonuses to two EW modules usually instead of one.

Try the Griffin and Maulus first and see what you can do with them.

They are useful for sure if you're familiar with tackling and ewar. They're great for a quick point for 15 seconds while waiting for the rest of the fleet to arrive.
I don't use them much, but i trained the skill because hey, if you need a quick and fast ewar ship it helps to be able to jump into one, ya know?

They're more survivable. Less jamming/EW, but more versatile than a Blackbird. |

They have some really nice bonuses.
A Sentinel with bonuses to neuts/nos is quite powerful.
A Keres with Damps and a warp diruptor makes a really good tackler.
The Hyena is fast, has a bonus to sig radius, painters and webbers making it potent against small fast targets.
The Kitsune has some nice jamming abilities.
So all in all, they've got some nice features if you can keep them out of the line of fire.

THanks for the help guys. I like the idea of being sacrificing a slot in the kitsune compared to a BB (5 vs 6 i believe) but having higher base speed and being a bit more difficult to target. So I will continue with my training. Any other advice is surely appreciated.

Remember the Kitsune also gets a range bonus. Basically, you can fly really far out and really fast, meaning it should be a total ***** to kill you. If you are ever in trouble (say, see an inty coming for you), just jam it and fly by one of your allies with a webber.

Also the Kitsune has a higher jam strength. It's a clear superior to the BB.

If you really think that I advise you to recheck both ships and try some setups. |
