Kendar Zek
Gallente Interstellar Aid Society

[1]
Today, the Interstellar Aid Society celebrated our second anniversary in New Eden. I have counted the many joys of seeing refugees brought to shelter, feeding the hungry, and investing in the dreams and ambitions of my fellow capsuleers. I have been reminded each day that one man can make a difference in a universe that is often cruel and unforgiving.
Sadly, I have fallen ill. A genetic defect in my clone's source DNA has manifest itself as a degenerative disorder that cannot be corrected. Though I have been aware of the problem for some time, I have done my best to remain in good spirits as not to burden my comrades with my impending demise. I am not expected to survive the night.
I've had the pleasure of selecting an INAS trustee to find a suitable replacement to manage our small organization. I have also named my beloved Ambriel as chief among them in the interim, until my permanent successor is appointed. I wish them well in continuing our projects, stellar and planetary alike, and I have no doubt that they shall be a credit to the ideals upon which I founded the Society two years ago.
Takashi Kurosawa, my dear friend and partner in racing, has been appointed as the owner of Venture Racing Team. I have all faith that he and the team council shall appoint a new captain worthy to fill his shoes, as he more than capably fills mine. The team's assets, as well as a portion of my personal estate, have been transferred to Mr. Kurosawa's designated agent to maintain the continuity of the team's accounts.
To my team, I encourage you to pursue the prize in unity, brotherhood, and good fellowship with each other as well as your opponents, and where you are presented with the choice between friendship and victory, friendship is the more desirable of the two. Do not deviate from your values nor sow the seeds of discord, as I have done from time to time, lest any man find fault with you. You have been dearly cherished.
To my friend, Jasen Nightwing, you have been a good and honest man, and I can think of no one more deserving of my worldly possessions. What does not pass to the team, I leave to you. I wish you all success in your adventures in space. Be well, sir.
To my dearest Ambriel, be of good cheer as I depart peacefully. Wherever you go, I am not far from you. Your optimism and affection have been a most precious blessing unto the very end, and with the last breath that I cast into the world, I shall remind the stars of the unending heavens that I love you.
My fellow pilots, make peace with your enemies, for you are no less mortal than any other man. Your days are numbered, and many of you may not have the same luxury as I, to sit a while with death before her icy hand is upon you. Each of you must leave a legacy at the appointed hour, and I implore you to leave one worth keeping alive long after you are forgotten.

Kendar's illness and death came as a big shock to me, as I imagine to everyone else.
I can only say that Kendar made the cluster a better place to live while he was with us, and I'm deeply saddened by his passing. Yet, in the face of this sorrowful moment, I must take on the responsibility entrusted to me by Kendar, and will assume ownership of Venture Racing to the best of my ability.
I offer my condolences to Kendar's beloved Ambriel. Fly safe, Kendar.

A dear friend has died this day. Protocol Dark is in mourning over the loss of a man so great and kind as Kendar. We shall take his final words to heart.
I feel a great empty place in my own heart. However, I know he would want all those who feel such a loss to persevere and overcome.
May you fly eternally safe in the dark places, Kendar, and your soul find rest amongst the stars. You truly shone brighter than any I have or ever will see.

This is very sad news. Kendar Zek was one of those rare people who spent his entire life trying to do good. I hope his passage was peaceful, and Ambriel, should you need anything, please don't hesitate to call... even if it's just a shoulder to cry on.

Standing quietly in the office, head slightly bowed...tear slowly slipping its way down my cheek...I look out towards the sun. This my new home.. My eyes glazed and chest slightly tightening... Placid.. You have lost a son.. A great man was born here and I pay homage to such at this very moment. Words once read out to me drift into my head, lips slightly pursed, I begin to recite them now.. Perhaps I might send them to this great mans friends and comrads, as a gesture of friendship and honoring such a man that has touched their hearts and souls..Be strong now brothers... He would want it no other way, and though I never knew this great man personally, his final words speak volumns of what a great and honorable man he truely was...
That he was near to you so many a year But darkens you distress. Would you he were less worthy and less dear That you might grieve the less?
He was a golden font that freely poured What goldenly endures, And though that font be gone, its bounty stored and treasured, Still is yours.
The past is deathless. Souls are wells too deep To spend their purest gains. All that he gave to you is yours to keep While memory remains. Who never had and lost forlorn are they Far more that you and I Who had and have Judge not the price we pay For love that cannot die.
Peace to you all and goodwill..

The news of Kendar's death came as a shock to me as well. I thought I'd never again hear those words and yet it has happened: Kendar is dead. My condolences to the fiancTe he left behind.
He also left behind a legacy of charity and a racing vision. He will not be easily forgotten in the Federation, nor will he ever be forgotten in the big extended family that is the ISGC Racing League. I hope to see a united and strong Venture team out there on the tracks, tonight and always. To them as well I extend my condolences, on behalf of myself and the entire Dragonstar Racing Team.
Farewell, Kendar.

Kendar was an Intaki, and though I do not know if I he followed the ways of his ancestry, I feel it fitting at least to say this short prayer for him, much as his ancestors would have said for their departed:
You who have passed from us, may your soul find rest on its journey, until once again you walk amongst us.
Kendar was a man of good heart who, despite all the injustices and troubles it heaped upon him and every one of us, earnestly tried to make the universe a better place for everyone to live. He was a virtuous man who would provide help to the needy with no thought of reward, and little even of recognition for his deeds. These sentiments are rarely found in any pilot in New Eden, and he was an example to all capsuleers of how one can go against the grain and show true kindness and compassion for all fellow men, something that few, least of all embittered idealists like myself are able to obtain.
His passing shall be mourned, I would hope, by every capsuleer who believes in the virtue of charity, for he was a true exemplar of it. I would like to convey my greatest condolences to his wife and family, and to his close friends. ----- CEO, Mixed Metaphor Dance Commander |

I have only heard but well meaning words of Kendar Zek and offer this to him and his spirit.
When, through intense propensities, we are wandering in the Sangsara, Along the bright light-path of the simultaneously-born Wisdom, May the heroic Knowledge-Holders lead us, May the bands of the Mothers, the Dakinis, be our rear guard. May we be saved from the fearful narrow passageway of the Bardo, May we be placed in the state of the perfect Buddhahood.
May the ethereal elements not rise up as enemies; May it come that we shall see the realm of the Blue Buddha. May the earthy elements not rise up as enemies; May it come that we shall see the realm of the Yellow Buddha. May the fiery elements not rise up as enemies; May it come that we shall see the Realm of the Red Buddha. May the airy elements not rise up as enemies; May it come that we shall see the Realm of the Green Buddha. May the elements of the rainbow colors not rise up as enemies; May it come that all the Realms of the Buddhas will be seen. May it come that all Sounds will be known as one's own sounds; May it come that all the Radiances will be known as one's own radiances; May it come that the Trikaya will be realized in the Bardo. Edited by: Steph Wing on 25/04/2008 07:50:37 As an infrequent participant in the ISGC racing league, I had the great pleasure of meeting, and more recently in my career flying under Mr. Zek during my very short run as a member of Venture. He was a genuinely good man, a rare commodity in this increasingly hostile universe, with vision and determination nothing short of inspiring. His passing is an immesurable loss both to the racing community, and to the people of the Federation.
I've never been one for words, preferring to speak by my actions instead. That in mind, I've rechrisoned my favorite vessel, a Taranis-class interceptor, the Kendar Zek in his honour. I thought it fitting, since I intend to race the ship in the near future.
Rest in peace, old man. ---
