Since the latest patch, Sensor Booster activation times have been reduced. This activation time reduction -- which is nice -- has to me an undesirable side effect.
Simply, it makes your ship look like it's in a hurry. Sensor Booster IIs have always given off a pleasant aura that exudes prestige. A very calming and slow whirr accompanied by a very slow blue pulse of concentric circles makes the SBII a very pretty module to activate.
I wish that we could have the sensor booster effect regulated by how much strength it puts out. The higher the strength, the slower the sensor booster emanates. This could be role played by "it is able to lock better with a slower pulse rate" or somesuch. The faction sensor boosters should not appear tech 1 in activation, either. They should be slowed even further to give off a nice and calming pulse.
This sort of stretches further out to other modules as well that need effects such as armor hardeners. Additionally, I believe some officer/faction modules such as guns should be visually "tagged." They're modified, after all and should appear modified somewhat.
Anyway, thanks for listening ^_^

I like this idea.
Armour hardeners need effects, perhaps making the armour surfaces change colour slightly. Also, afterburners need bigger effects at the engines, and mwds should make some kind of bubble around the ship, a bit like the warp effect

... that people could disable at any point to reduce lag.
As dev's have said, playing eve feels like you're using windows 3.1 It could use a facelift and you know it.

Armour hardeners, yes, yes and YES! Officer/faction... Mmm, maybe just give them the same models as tech 2 stuff? -----

I have always thought that armor hardeners when activated could give the ship a polished surface (like in the image) and possibly have very quick shimmers of light sweep across the surface occasionally.
Just an idea :3

As long as someone can't just look and see how strong or what type (specific hardener types, etc) of a module I've activated, I'm all for more interesting eye candy. :)

But you can do that with turrets. You can even tell whether they're tech 1 or tech 2. It's why I sigh whenever I see a turretless Abbadon undock
Launchers on the other hand are much less obvious. ...

Client side lag, aka CPU/GPU or FPS lag.

For those of us who pay to play EVE with everything cranked to full, I for one would love to see this effect.

Some of us pay to play a game that actually works, and would rather resources be spent on big fixes and optimizations instead of more "eye candy".
Just something to think about
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

I'm quite sure they're currently in the process of redoing the effects and many, many objects within EVE in the Trinity engine.

It is indeed a well known fact that laptop users cannot turn off effects in EvE
