Given the choice of either Missiles or Turrets which would you use or... which do you think are better?
Assume nothing. If you want to contrast a 1400mm howitzer to a cruise missile you can. Simply, in your experience which weapon type does better?

I havent done much figthing, but i'd assume that in a head to head fight, a missile ship would easily out class turret only vessel

Given the choice of either Turrets OR missiles i'd go turrets.
They have versatility the missiles dont. Missiles at 100KM range are worthless. Turrets do insta-damage.
The pro of missiles is you dont ahve to choose long range or short range setups, there is just one choice.

Turrets DEFINITELY for pve. Turrets also mostly take the cake in pvp as well.

Turrets win out in my book due to dmg over time. However, missiles have better dmg consistency and require no cap usage.

Kinda depends on type of ship, the larger the ship, and the more damage it can take, the better it can withstand missiles and be more effective using turrets. But smaller ships would not stand up to missile volleys so well.
BSs set for long range and turrets, would beat BS with mostly launchers but different for frigs/cruisers:

For versitillety you want Missiles in 'Ideal' conditions turrets.
BS
Missiles require no cap you can vary the damage type more easily, If your jammed you can load FoF in a launcher.
Turrets do more damage when at optimal conditions, but get far enough outside/inside a turrets optimal range, or jam the ships targeting and your turrets aren't worth jack.
Cruisers
Missiles do more damage than the turrets in Cruisers but the Caracal Vs Thorax comparison doesn't work, not unless you ignore the 8 heavy drones in the Thorax's drone bay.
Frigates
Frigates should not be allowed to carry cruise missiles end of story. (maybe not end of story rather start the flame fest). Cruise missiles are far to powerful to be mounted on a frigate. What chance do none cruise missile using Frigates have against Cruise carrying Frigates? In a fight with pilots of equal ability? practically non, only a frigate with enough speed to stay ahead of the cruise has a chance.
Of Course Turrets don't fly into gates or non hostiles and get you pwnd by concord.
All in all both have their advantages, learn both and choose the right weapon for the job.
