I live in Seattle and its been snowing for a couple of hours now, not only snowing but hailing also. This isn't the first time its snowed in spring in Seattle this year and its been pretty cold lately. Its not even normal for it to snow in winter in Seattle. If you believe in Global Warming, explain to me why it snowed in Seattle today along with snow in Israel this year and in other warm places in which it SHOULDN'T HAVE SNOWED.

Since I don't want to get into an argument here, I'll just copy paste from wikipedia and advice you to go to a library and borrow a book that looks at the issue from multiple perspectives. You could even borrow more then one book, if you are really interested.
Wiki Quote: "Although it is difficult to connect specific weather events to global warming, an increase in global temperatures may in turn cause broader changes, including glacial retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and worldwide sea level rise. Changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation may result in flooding and drought. There may also be changes in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Other effects may include changes in agricultural yields, addition of new trade routes, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions, and increases in the range of disease vectors."

Edited by: MotherMoon on 19/04/2008 04:47:45 hey man, local seattlite here. up in redmond to be more accurate. When I 1st came to the seattle area 2 years ago people were SHOCKED when it snowed was shocked they closed school for 1 inch of snow lol.
and then this year it snowed again! came chaos... but then in snow agian... and now, agian. I was waling through it on the way home thinking how it's not even snowing back in Rhode Island where it snows every winter, and how I was thinking about seattle become a place where winter in spring would be normal i the coming years.
so yeah global warming.

Pfft. Colorado had two days of 80+*F weather, then dropped over 50*F in one day and dumped a few inches of snow. Colorado has the most bipolar weather of any state :)

Well I wouldnt be surprised - the earths weather isn't exactly the most easy to predict thing on this planet. We've had meteoroligists studying the weather for a long time now, but they still always seem to be way off :P
I don't see the Earth being flooded over anytime soon, however I think its absolute crap to presume the earth does not going through cooling and warming cycles - thats how its supposed to work - but I think that claims that the earth may be flooded in the next 100 or so years is likely stretching the truth of something we don't entirly understand.
By all means I agree that our pollution is in no way at all helping the earths environment and temperatures - but I don't think my home is going to be submerged in water in my lifetime.
At our current pace I disagree that the world will be flooded anytime soon, and with changes with our CO emissions happening year after year, I wouldn't be surprised if a flood will never happen.
We fixed a lot of the issues will pollution years ago in the US - but it's not anything I'd consider reversing the CO in the air, its more along the lines of not making it anymore worse then it already is at this time.
I'd be more concerned about a biological epidemic, a crazy country that gets their hands on long range nukes, or the economy crashing and exploding into a million pieces putting most of the globe into the dark ages. ____________________

Global Warming is a bit of a misnomer. They should change it.

Yes that's right. If global warming existed, and wasn't just some propaganda put forth by our shadowy overlords, we would instantly have tropical temperatures and it would never snow anywhere ever again. Because that's how meteorology works. |

It is a net global increase in thermal energy.
There are cells of wind driven by pressure, increase heat and you increase the pressure. Think of it as a giant cooling system where you are as more cold air is being circulated, but the local heat is being dumped elsewhere in the world and powering this cycle of air.
Case in point, look at black tents in the desert to keep cool. As the air inside expands it rises and sucks cool air in the base, thus cooling it. |
