What I can remember reading about armor tanking is that folk use 2 named MEDIUM armor repairers. Maybe that does the trick for you?

A few folks have mentioned you can be effective with 1 large armour repairer, if you are smart with its use.
Have you tried only 1 large repairer, against a corp mate? Have you tried 2 named mediums, and tried to compare the differences?
If you are having cap issues, try fitting a Heavy Capacitor Booster in a medium slot, loaded with 800 cap booster charges or something.

Yeah, you'll absolutely need a cap booster with 800ish charges and/or 3 to 4 cap rechargers (equal to CPRs) in the medium slots (after the next patch they have >18% recharge rate bonus).

The typhoon calls not only for modules but also for decent skills in engineering, electronics and gunnery. ____________________________________________________

*the grid supplied by these lows effects u to run 4 x 1400* MID: 4 x cap 2 LOW: 2 x large repairer, 3 x hardener, 2 x relays
... thats a simple setup, contact ingame for further info.
needed skills: engin/elec @ 5 wep upgrades @ 4+ energy grid upgrades @ 4+ all cap related skills @ 4+
btw: You may even want to look into named 1200s..... I've have not even shot a 1200 in the last 6 months :s So I forget exactly how bad they are.

You could get a lot more milage out of 1xlarge and 1xmed armor repairer... hard to have a good armor tank setup and use 1400's at the same time on a typhoon though.
You could also try squeezing a cap booster onto your ship. They use an annoying amount of powergrid, especially on the typhoon, but I thuink you could probably find an armor tank missile boat setup that would work pretty well, and cap booster 400 or 800s can bail you out in a pinch. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |

Don't use cap power relays, ANY of them. (any armor tanking ship using relays is doing something wrong)

I heavily disagree, if you have the free low slot, why not free up a mid slot? You can't have pure cap recharger 2's on your mid slots, you need an mwd, warp scrambler, cap booster, etc. Order out of Chaos |

Give me one valid reason to backup your uninformed statement.

if u want any half-decent armor tank, considering you will also want to do a bit of damage, u'll need 1-2 RCUs, +5 armor slots. meds on a typhoon are easier to sacrifice then lows, and cap booster is better anyways...
