When ever I have been killed in Eve it has never been a 1 on 1 fight. It has always been because I've been tackled by a gang & most are ruthlessly efficent in there objective of killing you very quickly.
I am a PVE mission runner not a PVP player & so know little how to escape a gang. I stray into low sec space running missions and this is mostly where I die. I get found jumping through a gate & bam I'm dead.
Can somebody tell me what I need to know & do If I'm caught to at least stand a chance of escape or evasion. The last time I got killed was because I jumped into a 0.4 sector straight into a firefight & instead of being chicken & logging out I fought....and died in my uber PVE tanked drake. It was all tec2 fitted but lasted 5 seconds against a gang. It felt like I was flying a choclate fire guard the way the tank was melted in seconds. What should I have done & no stupid answers like don't go there....as it's a bit late now!

Only way to not die to a gang is by not getting caught. Or by dropping caps.

Yes it can be scramed. Warp Core Stabs is what you need to prevent yourself from getting scramed. If you're in a fast enough ship you can escape the distance of the warp scrambler which is why MWD is suggested. I take it you're probably new to the game. If so I recommend you do a lot of reading in term of suggested ship fits and the dangers of traversing EvE. Good luck to you.

If you mean as in a warp scrambler/warp disruptor could prevent your microwarpdrive from working, then no. A mwd is really just an afterburner that gives a much bigger speed boost and has some penalties to balance for it. It has nothing to do with actual warping.

First step ignores ship and fit altogether, you need to be organized either directly with other corp mates one jump ahead scouting for you or through security channels, relaying information--if you don't fundamentally do these things every single thing you own will be destroyed--this is the entire premise of the game, evaluating risks and taking informed ones not staying docked all day.
Don't be a hero and confuse your pve fit for a pvp fit, you stand no chance as you lack a disruptor so at the most basic level, not to mention issues of resistances and capacitor.
Fit an MWD, you jump into a camp--now find a celestial and mwd toward it then hit warp to, vice versa you get scrammed, ship stops moving, you die.
Having the right ship matters obviously, knowing align times and maximising your agility to ship mass will help you evaluate whether its more realistic to burn back to the gate or try to get off of it, see also: thermodynamics. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

A few quick tips aside from wearing polyester and jellin' you hair to 'staying alive.'
If you going to take a slow ship (anything without a mwd and stabs or nanos etc..) in low sec then take a shuttle in first and scout out the gate. A shuttle can usually fly through a camp if done right... usually.
If there's a camp, warp to whatever is most in front of you. You want to avoid turning because you take much longer to warp that way. Pray the pirates don't have any insta-lock ships and go for it.
If you think you don't have a chance of escape, you have 30 seconds to check out the camp. Take the time to pick the best target and at least have the pleasure of not dying without a fight. In a small camp you might have a shot at taking someone out.

You need to make yourself as hard to lock in the first place as possible. Do this by boosting your agility and acceleration to warp as far as you can. Do this by putting in Instabs for agility, and Nanofibers for acceleration. Also, you will need to train up Spaceship Command and Evasive Maneuvers.
Also, if I am going to low-sec in my Kessie, I basically admit to myself that I am not fighting back, so I put my missiles to offline, and put my shield extenders online. This makes me less vulnerable to smartbombing.

Raven, 5 lows yeah?
Highs: 2 heavy neuts, cloak, 5 assault launchers Mids: MWD, and max out your hitpoints between extenders and hardeners. No boosting. Lows: 2 stabs, 2 overdrive and 1 nano. Drones: 5 Warrior IIs
I assume you have one account and work alone.
You jump in. Oh ****, it's camped. Don't these****s have a life?
Now it's time to have some pvp sense, and even mission runners can learn it. Big camp? Gotta burn back to that gate. Set the gate to next waypoint, count to 20, hit autopilot and the instant your impulse kicks in hit your mwd. Cross your fingers but it's a decent shot. Once you commit to the gate do not aggress.t
Small camp? If they have a hictor you're burning that gate again. If they don't have a lot of points, double-click in the direction of a warpout and hit your cloak. When you're aligned -- takes just a few seconds -- decloak and spam warp.
Solo pilot? You can probably just warp away.
You try to warp but dammit they have enough points.
Start locking whatever is scramming you -- the overview will tell you. Put a heavy neut on the two smallest of them. Put your warriors on the smallest of them You've already double-clicked on a warpout, so every second or two try to warp.
You manage to pull that off against a good camp, you're a pvper at heart baby
