on a friday night
during peak hours
talk abnout picking the worst possible time.
for both the players and i suppose we ought to spare a thought for the poor sods commited to performing the work, stuck in that comms room all day and with it being so sunny here in london.
just hope this will put an end to problems we are all having......
however i have seen MASSIVE WORLD ALTERING upgrades to systems befor.
the only differance between the befor and after, is the large invoice for parts and labour.

Yeah, doing it on a Friday is stupid but it does need doing, the servers are being slowly tortured with the influx of new players.

Hi,
I think you're quite clueless. Last time, they advocated about 4 hours downtime, which resulted in disastrophy (lol i make up words) and now they're taking a safe be tthat it'll take a lot more then that.
Also, this has to be done fast (eg today), for reasons that are obvious.

I disagree in a way, because the busy times are the worst at the moment, random reboots, nodes dropping, ultimate LAG, I think ccp thought they should do it tonight as its a busy time, and its when the *****z start to appear.
Anyway, just another angle. I used to work in the building the servers are in now, we should take them some cold beers

Would seem so.
BTW Sunday is according to server stats the REAL "peak hours", although I agree not having EVE today is a bit boring.
Anyway, maybe this sunday won't be stuck day again.

At least they're guesstimating 12 hours, instead of saying it'll be down for two and appending "oh crap, sorry we need another 10 hours of downtime we didn't expect" later.

sure hope this sunday is unlike the previous few....if people have sacrificed all of tonight for no benifit (both players and people working on the system) there is going to be uproar.
i suppose we will get a taste later tonight and tommorow to judge how the new system performs

i dont know, i'm kinda just giving up, they dont know what time they want to be down as it is...they bring the servers down before downtime, during downtime, after downtime and any other time a CCP looney feels like trippin on a server cord...
in the end, i got 12 hours of fresh air, upgraded my computer, spent some time with my wife, who knows i may even have that sex stuff...

Gaming is my idea of fun. I can do it with my closest friends, it's affordable, relaxing and limits my direct exposure to hoards of morons like your good self who think that because some people spend 1-2-3-4-5-6 more hours in front of their PC or console or whatever they have "no life" whatever that is.
