I wanted a semi-budget (no Polycarbs) Vagabond for small gang 0.0 incursions/nano****gotry and this is what I came up with:
[Vagabond,****abond] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II Gyrostabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Disruptor II Sensor Booster II, Targeting Speed Large Capacitor Battery II
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M Improved Cloaking Device II
Auxiliary Thrusters I Engine Thermal Shielding I
Warrior II x5
It does 5114m/s. I chose the battery over an Injector because I don't want to have to worry about being able to carry enough ammo/charges with 230m3 of cargo space. It's cap stable for 8 minutes with everything going. I figure if I need to be going 5114m/s and warp disrupting someone for more than 8 minutes I am doing something wrong. Without the Warp Disruptor it is cap stable forever. I elected not to use a second Auxiliary Thruster because it only adds 145m/s. It does 331dps. The cloak is for lack of anything better to put in that slot and the Sensor Booster is to counteract the cloak.
My concerns are: 1) It's got weak defenses. 2) 5114m/s isn't super fast, is it fast enough?
Last time I flew a Vagabond was many moons ago.

Cloak on vaga makes sad panda sad. Drop the cloak, add a LSE.

Switch the cap battery for a LSE. I prefer to have two, so unless you're specifically trying to nail smaller ships, you don't need the sensor booster either. I'd probably go with another aux thruster instead of the thermal shielding aswell. You're not supposed to run the MWD non-stop because you won't hit anything yourself. You use it in bursts to control range, mainly. Unless of course fighting missile ships but even then fly-by bursting is probably your best shot.
And yes 5km/s is enough for reducing heavy missile damage to zero. Whether it's enough for chasing inties etc is a different matter of course, but without polycarbs or snakes that's good enough.
Also, I'd prolly go with ECM drones. But it's your pick, sometimes you may need the drones to break a tank. Hobgoblins are better for DPS, though, and you don't need the warriors' velocity because anything that is too slow to be caught by then will die to your guns easy enough. --- CEO

Doesn't fit unless I ditch my battery, I'd need to run an Injector. I gain 2625 shield HP, which is nice, but is it worth the hassle of carrying booster charges?
I also like the idea of having a cloak, it's very useful, and it's easily counteracted by the Sensor Booster.

It was there to counteract the cloak.

The Warriors are because Mini T2 drones are the only ones I can use right now. But it wouldn't be a big deal to change to something else. |

Fair enough, but making up for the lost scan resolution is not as important as the survivability the buffer provides, so if you want to keep the cloak then just swallow the slower locking time. HACs still have it pretty good so shouldn't be a huge issue.
This is my setup (although I occasionally switch the istab for another gyro). Basically switch the HML for your cloak if you need it and obviously your low/rig config. If you go with 2 aux thrusters you could do with just one OD though and have a second gyro. |

I used to fly:
5x 220mm t2, med nos
10mn mwd t2, t2 disruptor, 2x lse t2
2x overdrive t2, 2x inertia t2, 1x nano t2
5x warrior t2 or 5x light ecm
Haven't flown since the nos nerf though so no idea what I'd put in the utlity slot now. Get rid of the cloak though mate, cuts your lock time in half. Get rid of the cloak and you wont need the sensor booster . _______________

Tracking disruptor. Medium turrets and maybe null loaded blasters might be able to hit that @20km.
Also, be wary of a rokh or megathron warping in at 100km. A cookie cutter snipeing thron with iridium loaded will hit you and it could be quite painfull. Chances are they'll shoot spike and end up learning something if they're lucky. Guess it could apply to any snipeing fit but I only know those two inside and out.

Dual 180's Fall-Off rigs Speed implants WIN
Steps to vagabond recovery. 1. Drop your stupid speed rigs 2. buy a set of 3 or 5% speed implants, you'll get similar speed 3. Pop inties with Emp-M which has the tracking to hit them. 4. Hit with barrage up to 30km (27-28KM fall-off) 5. Hit regular ammo up to 20km (17-19KM fall-off)
The only negative in this situation is ammo consumption.

I can understand on the no polycarbons, but I would still recommend one (not two).
Drop the booster and battery, this thing is made of paper without a shield extender. With one, it's still made of cardboard. Fit two. You don't need to permarun the MWD. It's for getting away, tackling and occasional damage reduction. The common misconceptions about the vagabond are that the vagabond has a tank and that it's a speed tank. Neither are quite true. It has an HP buffer and a temporary speed tank.
Drop the damn cloak. You won't need it for escape since you can outrun anything but an interceptor, and you can nearly instapop those. Aux thrusters are a good alternative to polycarbons, but not quite the same. The speed boost is there, but you're not as agile as a polycarbon would make you.
Warrior IIs are actually fine, you can catch all but the fastest interceptors with them if you can't catch them yourself.
Forget the Engine Thermal Shielding. It sounds good on paper, but all it really does is reduce your effective HP by 1k. Twenty additional seconds of cap is not worth it. Use a kinetic hardening rig to plug that kinetic hole.
5k is fine. Most nano ships can't do 3.5km/s, let alone 4km/s. So the only thing that will be catching you are fast drones and interceptors. Both of which your autocannons will make mincemeat of if you get your transversal down. - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |
