Hello EVE Community.
This is my first post, a "omg-i-can't-decide" post.
I've been playing eve since august 07.Stopped playing after 2 months and i'm back.I don't remember quite well if the "drone bw" existed on august 07, but i can see its a clear nerf to droneships.
I've made 48m doin' lvl 2 agent misions with my vexor.I will use T2 drones in 4 days, and I will be able to drive a dominix in 5 more days (9 total). But i can drive a myrmidon NOW and do lvl 3 missions. So heres my doubt: Myrmidon or Dominix. With myrm i will use 5 t2 hammerheads since we can't use 5 ogres like before.Plus, invest the rest of the money pimpin it.With domi I will use the 5 ogres and i'm sure i won't have a lot to invest on him because level 2 missions are gettin' bored.
If mym: 5 hammerheads > 3 ogres?
Thanks a lot.

Edited by: Shiken Kan on 22/04/2008 19:48:22 imo use medium drones because their higher speed more then makes up for the little less damage they do, especially in lvl 2 and 3 missions where you'll mostly encounter cruiser class ships and frigates. If you use the domi consider using sentries as part of your drone load, those can be extremely useful in missions. |

Get yourself a Myrmidon, spend some time in the ship, run lvl 3 for a while, you will make good money.
Polish your drone skills (drone interfacing, combat drone ops) polish your drone skills some more (the 4 racial droen specs so you can use whatever dmg type is needed for a mission) always embark 5 med scouts II and 5 light scouts II of the specific dmg type.
Then work your gunnery skills, it's a fun ship to fly, be it pve orotherwise.

Personally, I went straight for the domi. Then again, there was no myrm around when I did.
Thing is, it takes more or less the same time to fit up a myrm as a domi. Generally the myrm is much more expensive to fit out however, and it takes way longer to complete the missions. For pvp with very low sp? Def. Myrm. For Pve? No reason not to go domi. More tank, more damage, more slots and for the love of god - a full rack of sentries and heavies.

If you can get the money by the time you want to change ships, the domi. Even with horrible skills a domi is overkill for level 3 missions, and it's not that much slower than a myrm in the first place. The only reason I can think of to go myrm first is if you can't afford to buy a domi+fit it and you want to move on to the next ship right away. |

Why should a myrm be expensive to fit? A passive tanked myrmi has one of the best non capital tanks in game and costs maybe 10m to fit. Offensive wise it hasn't much to offer compared to the domi ofc and thus is tedious to run lvl 4 missions in.

Myrmidon is more expensive to fit because there is less supply and more demand for named cruiser sized modules. Also, best named shield power relays are 3mil a pop currently and there is no meta 3 of them in game.
There is hardly any reson to fly Myrmidon when you can fly Dominix. It is drone ships specific - you do not lose anything by equipping BS as BC in this case. On top of that Dominix is dirt cheap.
Ad drone DPS: 5x Hammerhead II > 3x Ogre I > 5x Hammerhead I. Also, as in L3 drones do not spend long enough time on one target, Ogres can spend more time moving than shooting.
Imo, get Myrmidon, fly it throught some L3, sell it (that means do not insure it), buy Dominix. Use this oportunity to get a glimpse at Myrmidon because frankly when you get into Dominix you will hardly have any inclination to look back again (unlike Vexor).
