A very interesting scenario

Omnioram	Posted - 2004.04.24 05:50:00 - [1] Heres the scenario .... you're mining in a belt in Yulai, you fill half a can and go off to get your hauler. you return to the can location with hauler and find its gone, you're a bit annoyed because someone has nicked your ore. You just happen to hover your mouse cursor over thorax and right click. The "board ship" option is available, you get very excited you ve just found a cruiser worth 6.5million isk. You board it and leave your hauler, you dock with the nearest station and return to your hauler with a shuttle and get your hauler back. You then recieve a convo from the guy whos ship it was before he left it, he tell me he was self destructing for the insurance money. He gives me the ultimatum of i give him 7million isk for the ship or there will be "trouble". I refuse to hand over 7million isk when in Yulai a brand new thorax can be bought for 6.4million. I explain this to him. His corp leader then convos me and tells me to give the cruiser back, i refuse ... afterall it is mine now isnt it? ive just found a pretty nice piece of equipment lieing about. Another of his corp members convos me and tells me if i dont pay 6.5 million there will be war with my corp .... i explain that i found the cruiser empty and technically its mine. I suggest he pay me 2million isk and he can have the thorax back, he refuses this .... and so far thats where this story is at ... So what would you do, whos right? whos wrong?

They're willing to go to war and lose more but not hold a ship for the guy? Riiiight...it would suck to lose a cruiser, but it's his own fault for leaving it lying around in open, public, empty space, and also his own fault for trying to commit insurance fraud :p lol
MooKids	Posted - 2004.04.24 06:09:00 - [3] Sounds like the guy was an idiot for leaving the cruiser unattended out in space for self-destruct. If he wanted to collect the insurance, he didn't even need to eject to self-destruct, just initiate it and his pod will be fine. I say keep the Thorax and laugh in their faces. BTW, what was the name of the corp that threatened you? -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity.

What you should have done is this: First take the cruiser to their base of operations. Make sure it is fully insured. Then, you self-destruct the cruiser yourself in front of them, keeping the money and laughing as you leave the area in your pod. After that, use a small portion of the funds to hire a corp for some military protection cough cough. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity.

Either that, or I'd either do what some other guy above said (destruct it after ensuring it, right in front of em, laughing maniacly the whole way). OR I'd tell em plainly: Look if you want it back so bad, your gonna have to get it the same way everyone else is gonna be able to get it. It should be on sale very soon at a station near you, for 6 million ISK, a steal if you ask me considering they go for 6.5 these days... Take it or leave it... As for the CEO? F* him... Finders keepers... I would have quit the corp instantly if I was ordered or even asked to give it back. On the other hand I would have happily turned over half the value of it to my own corp to help pay for the upcoming war effort ;) And before any Carebear types ask, I will Answer, YES I would be **ed if it happened to me and I lost one of my ships like that, but uh... Honestly? It never will... I'm NOT that Stupid... If you have played the game long enough to own and or fly a cruiser, and you do something that dumb? you didn't deserve it in the first place. I mean christ, Leave a Cruiser unmanned in the middile of a roid belt? The guy who lost it might as well have laid out a dozen secure cans making a trail from each gate to the roid belt, each can named: "Free Cruiser this way! First come First Serve!!!" I might have some simpathy for the sod if he had at least went to the orbit of some moon or something... But even then... Well all I can say is, this is probably one of the better candidates for an EVE darwin award... Even if it didn't result in death... it should have. Hmm thats an Idea...
